Smiling happily she waited for an answer.

Nodding more as they continued, Marsha smiled at him. ”Of course!” She exclaimed as if she was insulted that he would even suggest she wouldn’t return the journals as soon as she had read them. ”I’ll get them back to you in good time and in the exact same condition that I receive them in.” She smiled at him though, hoping he knew just how much it meant to her that he would let her read them.

Marsha smiled at him. ”Thank you Professor. I’m very proud to be on the team… there aren’t that many teens on the squad, so it is an honour to run for Britian.” She couldn’t help the way her eyes lit up when talking about running or creatures, so she probably looked seriously enthusiastic…. but honestly, she was. Hence why she wanted to run and work with creatures for the rest of her life… might as well love the thing you are forced to do on a daily basis to get galleons so that you and your family don’t starve. Or, at least that was what her parents always told her.

Ah. It was like she read his mind. That’s exactly what he needed. A pooperscooper. Maybe he had made assumptions too quickly. Her mouth ran at 500 miles per hour, but maybe her brain was a close call. Maybe. But first impressions were always weighted heavier anyways. That’s how things were done. ”I don’t see why not,” meaning yes by all means go and do the dirty work.

Sweet Circe, if her smile grew any bigger it’d fall off her face. He was sure. But anyways, yeah yeah don’t mention it, kid. James had a feeling he’d regret letting the students look at them anyways. Probably get his books back with ketchup stains all over the insides. Should’ve put out other less valuable things on his shelf.

And though he said one simple word, the animated girl STILL had so much to say. It was amazing. He had given her absolutely nothing to work with and yet there she went. ”Passion will get you far, Miss—“ What had she said her name was again? Would Miss 500 Miles Per Hour be too blunt? ”Hanover,” he finished after properly remembering.

… She didn’t have more… Did she?

He braced himself just incase.

SPOILER!!: Danteeeeeeee

He would just spread the gossip regardless.

"I do"

Seemed like his next question had the Professor's attention. Well the real reason is he had a fear of them. It was irrational since he had never met one. But yeah it was irrational for a reason. But he would never tell anyone that let alone Mr. Permanently Brooding in a Cold Office.

"Well all i know is they are a very dark creature mostly because of their shall we say aggressive and violent nature. But anything you can add to that would be fantastic"

Dante replied folding his hands and smiling. He knew more than that. But he wanted to hear what the Professor knew.

Come on Creature Man, answer the question
He studied the boy carefully, noting the green in his robes. Ah. One from the green house. He hadn’t had any visitors from that one yet. Dante was the first. Congratulations, Lanky. You’ve won. What had he won? A visit with Mr. Permanently Brooding in a Cold Office, apparently.

Again he surveyed the kid. They were all so skeptical here. Coming to test the Professor on his own subject. Were they just used to Professors that didn’t know anything? What kind of professionals did they hire here? Well, he already had an idea of that what with Poncho Paul and Satan Claus. But the kids had to return for SOMETHING right? And that something had do be something aside from that whole ‘safest place in the wizarding world’ codswallop because if there was a ‘safest place’ it would not be prone to acromantula attacks and student deaths.

It worrisome. Maybe James ought to go back to the basics with his lessons, if the kids had no proper background. After a momentary pause, he leaned back in his chair, ”Fair enough,” he nodded. ”There’s a reason why you don’t know much more because they’re hard to study. Only prey at night. And they have a tendency to consume those that are able to get a close look. I’d say incredibly.violent nature and very aggressive about sums it up.” But of course there was more.

James hadn’t ever gotten the opportunity to see one up close, but they had covered them many times in his uni classes. Curious creatures, Lethifolds are. As James recited all of this information, he picked up a book from on top of his desk, idly flipping through it as if he were bored and this information was right at the top of his head. Didn’t need to think much on it. ”So violent that the only way to defeat one is with the use of a patronus,” which ought to sound at least a little familiar. ”It’s why some suspect they’re closely related to Dementors, though I’m not completely sold on that theory myself.” He set the book down, looking curiously at the boy sat in front of him. ”So why an interest in Lethifolds?”

If Lanky got to ask a question, then so did James. A fair trade off in his not-so-humble opinion.

"Brunei... You must've been doing something very important to have been there." Poor professor Draper, such a promising morning and here he was rapidly becoming the idol of a little ginger firstie. She took the book with the same care she'd used last summer when she'd come across an injured kestrel in the family fields. The village veterinarian had warned her not to expect too much, but she'd visited the bird daily, 'to let it know it had a friend.' Two weeks later when the little falcon was released back into the skies the veterinarian had sworn it wasn't possible. She still saw it around sometimes, even if she was never quite able to explain how she knew it was the same bird.

"I promise to take the very best care of this. Thank you professor." Her smile beamed. "And thank you too, Merlin," she added giving the dog a gentle scratch behind its ear, "it's nice of you to be the professor's friend."
And then her eyes went and did the thing again.

He was expecting another unfortunate and lengthy speech about something or another, but this time the Eager Beaver went for praising instead. Which, did nothing but stroke his ego. And James’ ego did enjoy being stroked. Not to an unnecessary amount because he could pick out the brownnosers, but this one seemed genuine. ”Well, when one is serving for his country…” he nodded. Military, especially important. Though he was thankful he had left when he did. He had bigger things to do. More to amount to. And the military didn’t really play into his interests.

He returned her thanks with a nod and moved back to his chair. Whatever she whispered to his dog wasn’t heard.
