He didn't study magical law, after all. Hah ha.

"Wait, the food fight?" the Ravenclaw repeated. "So what if you were involved in that nonsense? It's not like you started it." He rolled his eyes. "I heard Sir Nick started the fight. And your parents can't re-kill a ghost unless they have a basilisk, so you should be fine!" Right? Right.

The second year went back to pulling out a few of his cards he was willing to trade when Blaise asked him a perfectly weird question. "Uhhh." A bit of a blush started to grow on David's cheeks. "I just--- I like school?" His family did fantastic traveling things all the time. Actually, his parents probably traveled even more without him, like while he was at school. They probably threw parties without him! They were probably hanging out with like--- like Char's and Cal's and Genny's parents RIGHT NOW! He could just see them, all sitting in a circle and doing old people stuff, like reading the Daily Prophet out loud to each other whilst playing wizard chess! The second year's brow furrowed with this image in his mind.

"I mean, yeah, summer was alright." He was trying not to brag, remember? And besides, the important thing here was that BLAISE LIKED HIS DRAGON! Awwwwww yeah!!!!!!!! David grinned. "It is, isn't it? I got one too. We should try to see if they'll fight!" His was actually up in his dorm right now, but he could bring it to their next class to show Blaise. Then the Gryffindor produced something that was altogether impressive too!

A quick quotes quill of his own! "THE NEW MR. GREEN!!!!" Davie yelped, excited accepting the quill and tickling his own cheek with it in glee. "Can you show me how to get it to float like yours? THIS IS AWESOME. THANKS, BLAISE. I should use this to interview the new professors!" Well, the ones he hadn't already visited. Ahem.

Getting out his journal so the quill would have something to float on, David almost didn't hear the echo of a laugh from the corridor. Almost. But then he glanced toward the doorway and noticed a tiny shadow just passing the edge of the door frame.

"Did you hear that, mate?" he wondered aloud, shaking his head at the laugh. Weird. That shadow had looked inconceivably small, almost like the size of... a toy. Hah. Nah. "First years, am I right?" All these first year GIRLS were just messing with his mind.

Was THAT what was going around Hogwarts? Merlin, he didn't know whether to be relieved or offended! If...let's say...he could get at least half the school to swear they heard it was Sir Nick then maybe--just maybe he wouldn't be dead meat! It was brilliant and he was now looking at David Truebridge as if he was singularly the best person in the entire world, 'cause he gave him hope.

"Yeah...Sir Nicholas. Hopefully that keeps spreading. Dunno how when I was the first to throw anything but this is good--it's great, it's brilliant!" Relieved, the boy was decidedly relieved.

But then he said that and the grin that had only seconds ago risen was now slowly dying. Of course Blaise knew his friend loved school. It was one of those weird things about him but the boy could see. "I know. Might be a Ravenclaw thing, or so I've heard." More importantly, dragon fighting!!!! Blaise perked up instantly. "We HAVE to try that! Have to! We can make a little arena for them and everything, maybe charge people candy to watch." That would be cool but really he was all fixed on seeing the miniature terrors at work now.

As for working the quill (which he was beyoooond happy Davie liked), "That's the easy, fun part. You just...sorta have to make it understand your intentions and stuff. Try snapping your fingers to get it at attention or directly give it a command. Something like 'take this down'. It's usually VERY happy to comply. A finger snap is usually enough for mine these days." Especially when it had paper and parchment to...run wild....on...

What was that?

He hadn't seen anyone by the door but he did see the shadow make it's way behind it. "Yeah...First Years....bunch'a weirdos giggling around the corridors for no reason."
