...Oh. He had made the association. Was that a bad thing? He could not tell by the way the boy said it, but he had not immediately lit up with joy at the prospect of Callum being Char's sister, so he assumed it was not an entirely good association in the boy's mind. "The same, yes. Char is my big sister." Not really bigger as they both stood at about the same height, but surely this kid - Olly, was it? - knew what he meant.
"Nice to meet you, Olly." Quite a mouthful of a full name. There was slight hesitation, but he could not help but inquire further, "Are you and Char friends?" What did he have to say about her?
Olly grinned at Callum in acceptance of his praise, and moved closer to join him on the monkey bars. Olly pulled himself up onto the opposite end and, with some careful maneuvering, managed to find himself sitting on top of the bars. It occurred to him that it would be possible to use magic to get in that position, which would make things easier. But he pushed that thought away for a moment.
"Oh, cool," Olly said after a moment. There were a few things he wanted to ask. Specifically, about the identity of the boyfriend she claimed to have. But he didn't want to seem too nosy, and didn't want to be accused of having the wrong intentions by asking. So he kept quiet on that and instead remarked,
"It's cool that you got the same house as her." Olly was, of course, still bitter and sad about being separated from his sister, but he tried not to let that show. As to the question about whether he was friends with Charlotte Kettleburn, he thought about that for a moment before answering.
"Yeah." He just shrugged. They weren't
not friends.
But enough about Charlotte Ketteburn. Olly certainly had not come to the playground to discuss her. There were more important things to discuss. About the monkey bars, since both boys were not sitting on top of it.
"Do you think that if you hung upside down long enough your head would, like, fall off or something?"
