What was of importance was that Professor Draper was sat inside his office, already leaning back in his chair with black coffee sat ready on his desk. He was seizing the day. Writing down some scattered notes for future lessons, enjoying the quiet that the morning had to offer.

Mornings meant he was in a good mood. Fortunately for Ailsa and James both.

As he lifted his quill from the parchment in front of him he heard a knock on the door. Ah? Who could it possibly be? Seven in the morning was not a very popular time, however, many of his visitors had been of the early-rising variety. Had word somehow gotten out that James was more chipper at this point in the day? Hopefully so.

The Professor didn't bother to flick the door open with his wand, however, with eyes still on his notes he called out loud enough so that his visitor could hear, "Come in," hopefully it wasn't that wretched Poncho Man again. James had enough of him to last an entire three years at this school.

Ailsa jumped slightly at the window when the professor's call brought her back from her little reverie about the spider.

"Happy hunting, little guy," she said in the general direction of the crack into which the arachnid had disappeared. "And you," she added to the little fly buzzing against the other side of the window pane, "be mindful to avoid webs, OK?"

Goodbyes said, she slowly opened the professor's door and slipped into his office.

"Professor Draper?" she inched closer to his desk before taking a seat and fidgeting slightly. She suddenly wondered if she should have worn her school robes as her Charms professor seemed to prefer but she'd just have to hope that Professor Draper saw the sense in her weekend outdoors preference of canvas trousers with a durable flannel shirt.

"I'm Ailsa," the slip of a girl held out a hand in greeting. "I know I'm just a first year and all but I was wondering if you, um, needed any help?" She was nervous and her voice betrayed it. "I'm pretty good with norm--" she stopped herself with a thoughtful look before continuing. "I was going to say I'm pretty good with the normal animals on our farm, but I guess it's normal for magical creatures to be magical, isn't it..." The girl trailed off for a moment.

"Even if it's just mucking stalls, it'd be nice to be around animals here, like I am at home," a small smile broke through. "And they always seem to like having me around too."
