He continued confidently, all the way up to the professor's desk, whereupon he took a seat in the chair opposite, and then unloaded his backpack onto the floor with a soft huff. Aha. SO the interior of the office was as modern and sleek as the exterior. What did that say about the office's occupant? Davie took a long, long and quiet two minutes to look all around the room, pretty much everywhere except at the professor, before he cleared his throat.
"Hello sir. I'm David Truebridge." Annnnnnd pause for effect... "I have some questions for you." On day one of the school year? OF COURSE ON DAY ONE OF THE SCHOOL YEAR. They only had so much time to learn!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, a student? Here to visit him? On the very first day? Merlin, did he know that there were grounds to explore? Mischief to get up to? Combat fighting to be practiced?
Regardless, Roderik watched the young fellow curiously, who was practically marching up to his desk. The confidence was admired but the silence wasn't. It was awkward, y'know? He even cleared his throat to ease the, ah, tension and to see if the boy was going to go ahead and introduce himself. Or should he do the honours?
Oh, and there was a voice to match the face. It's about time, kid. "Nice to meet you, Mr Truebridge. You're the first student to pay me a visit." Truebridge.... truebridge..... why did that name ring a bell in his head? "I doubt you need to know who I am." Cue a cheesy half-smile. ... ... Oh merlin, questions? On the very first day? He surveyed the kid, taking in the backpack he had seen before and the glasses and the level of eagerness he was getting from the boy. He was going to be quizzed and he hadn't prepared.
#yolo? "Sure, what would you like to know?" Quote:

I hope the feast hasn't turned you off TOO too much--that was actually quite odd!" He chuckled as he stepped all the way into Hirsch's office and shut the door behind him with his foot. "Where do you want this, then?" he held up the potted plant once more. "And..I don't remember if I properly introduced myself...that night is such a blur--especially with my poor BANJO being broken," he took a moment of silence to remember those mournful times. "But! I am Paul Myers! Herbology professor!" ......... Poncho Man?
Yeah, Roderik was confused. One, because the man was here in the first place and two, because he wasn't wearing a poncho from the other day. Even if they've only met for a brief moment, it was a little weird to see him in normal clothes, that was for sure. "Hello!" he said, trying to match the man's enthusiasm and, uh, failing badly. At the mention of the plant, his eyes flew over towards it and he considered it for a moment. It wasn't too big, and even seemed relatively normal coming from the man who wore jogging bottoms to a feast. He half expected a dancing plant of some kind but since it was your everyday office plant...... Hirsch looked back up at Paul and smiled a little. "Hyped up kids and feasts don't make for a good combination." All that sugar was just bad news. "Besides, nothing says a feast like a good food fight, right?" The only thing that put him off was, frankly, the hag. But we weren't going to ruin the day so..... "Just, leave it on my desk, if you will." He moved the family pictures just a bit to make some room before looking back up at the older man who....... was starting to mention the banjo. Merlin, help him if he had to pretend to care because nothing was coming. He did keep quiet, though, mainly because he didn't want to upset the man who had just given him a gift. "It's nice to meet you properly, Paul, and thanks for the plant. The name's Roderik Hirsch." And please don't give him a ridiculous nickname, okay?
