She went to stand beside him, peering around the room for any sign of the professor, when the door shut with a thump and Professor Primeaux's voice echoed through the classroom. Holy guacamole. That was new. Her eyebrows went up. A TEST? A written test? Please say no please say no written tests are absolutely positively frowned upon, in her book. She could really do without them. Forever. She even let out an audible sigh of relief by the time she got through reading the instructions on the board. She KNEW those spells. For the first time EVER she KNEW something. Okay, that was an exaggeration, but it didn't happen that often so Norah reserved the right to be excited.

The Prefect moved towards one of the cabinets with wand in hand, focused on the lock, and took a deep breath before casting "Alohomora!" with a smooth movement of her wand. She heard a click and her face split into a beaming smile, and she looked around quickly just in case somebody had SEEN. SHE had seen. It was a MIRACLE. Maybe sixth year wouldn't even be a huge ginormous loss. Or maybe it was just Sophie Brown's spirit hanging around the classroom. If she didn't know Sophie Brown had much better things to do than lurk here, Norah might've really believed that. It was nice to think about, in case something did go wrong.

With her spell completed, Norah scanned the room in search of anybody who needed help. It was a WEIRD feeling to be able to help people in this sort of situation, but she had no complaints. At all. It was almost like feeling smart, which was strange but kind of wonderful. Okay, really wonderful. She had no expectation for it to last, but she'd enjoy it ANYWAYS. Her hazel eyes caught sight of an ickle badger who couldn't unlock her cabinet, and when the younger girl asked for help, the Hufflepuff zoomed over with smile in place. "Hey there. D'ya need help?" She had to ask, okay? The little one could've been talking to herself. Norah'd be lying if she said she never did that, and lying was off limits. She held her wand up and slowly demonstrated the wand movement, and then again. "I think it helps to really practice all the bits of the spell separately first. So, first I'd take my wand out and practice the wand movement a few times all by itself." She demonstrated the movement again, trying hard to keep her hand from quivering from the EXCITEMENT of it all. "And then I'll say the incantation a few times without any movement or anything. Y'know so I'm sure I'm saying it exactly right. You've gotta do that with spells, if you say something wrong you can do something really different than you wanted to." Like turning your ears into turnips or something. That sounded awfully unpleasant. "And then when you're all practiced, you can put the parts together and aim at the lock, but you've got to really really think about it. Like REALLY think about it. You can't think about your lunch and try to cast a spell at the same time. I've tried it, it doesn't really work." She grinned at the younger girl, 'cause if she WAS thinking about her lunch then they really could be kindred spirits, then took a small step back so she'd have space to try the spell. "So yeah, concentration is important. AND confidence, apparently. You can do it! I'm sure you can. You don't have to get it on one of your very first tries." It wasn't like Norah'd ever done anything right on her very first try, and she'd made it this far without flunking. That was no small feat.

Kaylee sighed in relieve when she saw Norah walking towards her, she remember being introduced to the older Hufflepuff girl at the Start of the Term Feast.
"Hello Norah!" Thank you for helping me" The little girl payed close attention to what Norah was saying and doing. She copied the movements and repeated until it felt natural. She then put her wand down and started to repeat "Alohomora!" a few times until she could say it perfectly.

When Kay felt she was ready to try again, she went back to the cabinet, and said "Alohomora!" while doing the wand movements. To her delight she heard a click, and when she tried to open the door, it opened!
She beamed and turned to Norah "It worked! Thank you so much!"
