And as long as no house elves quit in protest because their hard work wasn't being appreciated. But he couldn't say any of thaaaaaaaaaaaaat to his new acquaintance.
Wait, she thought food fights were fun? "Uh, okay," he replied to that with a somewhat judgmental wrinkling of his nose. Yes, he was part of the noble House of Ravenclaw which did not find food fights fun. "Oh you know, stuff." He was slowly becoming conscious of the fact that what he found 'fun' was considered 'boring' by some. "I like books, and learning new magic, and exploring creatures, and playing with plants and potions, and traveling, and sometimes tricking my friends." Oh! "AND I collect Chocolate Frog Cards. I have over 38 different ones right now!" Was she impressed by that? She should be. Not EVERYONE was organized enough to collect cards. "What about you? Do you throw anything besides food?" Like, er, quaffles? Quote:

The Australian wasn't too concerned though.
He'd find his way back to the Ravenclaw common room somehow. Right now though, he was happy. This courtyard was quite beautiful. A lot more pleasant than other areas of the school that he had stumbled across.
Sitting himself down at the base of the pear tree he took time to look around him. To study this area in detail. All of it was causing sparks of ideas to flicker in his mind. A smile on his face he pulled out his sketchbook. His pencil quickly danced across the page to form a rough sketch. As they talked, another Ravenclaw boy (Jasper) wandered over to the pear tree, sat down, and began sketching. This boy was a first year like she was. Haddie remembered him form the sorting ceremony, but she couldn't remember what name had been called for him. Something with a J, she thought.
There they were. Three Eagles, all sketchbooks, journals, or notebooks, congregating at the pear tree. She looked identical to them. It made her doubt the belief she'd been placed in the wrong house. At least until Davie reacted to her saying food fights are fun.
Haddie quietly laughed and shook her head at his reaction. It reminded her that even with the occasional similarity here and there, she was, at her core, vastly different than the rest of her house. An Outsider to it. There was no changing it though, so she'd make the best of it.
She watched the artist sketch as Davie listed off the things he did for fun. His list brought some of her doubt back, but mostly it made her wonder if the Hat confused her for Natalie. "I never actually threw food, you know? I dumped strategically on other people," She flashed him a wide, toothy grin, "Blimy! Did I use that right? I'm practicing my British slang. Personally, I prefer 'holy carp' because it always makes me imagine a fish in a pope's hat." There was a pause while she considered his list, watching the artist as she did. "You sound a lot like my twin sister, actually. She's the smart one, not me. I'm just..." Haddie shrugged. She continued watching the artist. "I like fun things. Hanging out with friends, dancing like a fool, exploring things, having adventures, playing pranks, trying new things, that sort of stuff, you know?" She turned away from the artist and looked at Davie and shrugged again. "I like doing things sometimes just to see if they can be done."
Then she stood up and plucked another pear. "Hey, heads up," she told the artist (Jasper). She was about to toss it, but realized that he might not be that great at catching to begin with, and waited until he was looking at her before tossing it. She looked back at Davie, grinning. "Okay, now I've tossed food." She sat back down. "You're really good," she told the artist. "I'm Haddie, and this is Davie... wait, have you two met already?" She glanced between Davie and the Ravenclaw firstie.
