They'd work something out.
For now, both were positively onboard with whatever he was about to say and he was holding them to that even if they WERE older kids and technically no fun.
Both had proven otherwise at some point. Blaise was practically on the table just to lean in close enough to them because what he had to say wasn't for everyone's ears. "We're gonna teach the Prefects a lesson. Head Boy included, Head Girl too if you've got a clean shot. They were awful rotten to my cousin 'cause they got badges this year and we wanna remind them different." He glanced across the room at the other prefects and the others who'd agreed. "Nothing serious, just a one sided food fight." Admittedly, he did find Blaise amusing. He was still young and unburdened by... things. The idea of a one-sided food fight though, actually didn't do much for him. "I'm more of an all-out food fight kinda guy... but, I'm in," he shrugged, sorry but not sorry for sharing his opinion. And somehow he didn't think Candice would appreciate pudding in her hair, or Yoongi mashed potato on his face... as amusing as the idea was. If it were to happen though, he wouldn't object to being the first to break Blaise's conditions. The boys face would look great with a layer of cream. Text Cut: Noel and Maggie Quote:

So he had to butt out, "Hi, yes. Um" Pause "Okaaaaaaay ... I am going to go now" the seventeen year old nodded with an awkward smile and turned to leave. Back to preteens then. Sigh. Quote:

Something that made her look up at him again. "No." Maggie replied without missing a beat. "Just the things she said..." They had made her...well, sad mostly really.
But she didn't really want to get into that right here, right now.
Noel though had apparently caught on to the fact that his appearance WAS in fact bad timing. She gave him a genuine sort of half-smile when he dismissed himself. "I'll come find you later..." Maggie said, though she wasn't sure he'd heard her. Her eyes followed the Hufflepuff for a few seconds after he'd turned around. "I should...go too." Her voice lacked any sort of indication as to how she felt about that. As did her face when she looked back at Zeke again, it was just blank. Despite her announcement Maggie didn't really move yet though. "I just wanted to say sorry. And..." And what? "...and see how you were doing." She ended up saying. Yes. That.
Sounded good, no? He was remotely aware of loud first years... and second years, but it was a sound that was easily muted, shoved to the recesses of his mind. It almost amused him too, how the tables had turned, and fairly suddenly. He hated when Maggie avoided eye contact but now he felt he had to do the same... and so his head remained bent, his gaze trained on their interlocked hands. Because, sounded like a good way to start a response to his question, but there was a sinking feeling developing in his core that hoped she had escaping Paige and not him. Maggie's quick 'no' helped though, it did. It eased a part of him which in turn allowed him to breathe more freely.
Again he was on the verge of an answer, but was left waiting.
It was difficult to feel anything but indifference for a person you didn't really know... so when the Puffer announced his departure, Zeke was nothing short of pleased. He wouldn't feel bad for not welcoming the intrusion, not now, not tonight. And maybe now he could find some peace?
....
But no, now she wanted to leave? His eyes found hers and looked for... something, anything, but he couldn't make anything of her response.
Also now he was getting a little annoyed. The confusion was doing his head in, it just wasn't healthy. Had she realised? They'd had two hello's and one goodbye... maybe now a second, and not one kiss or hug or anything really of any significance to show for it. Even if he hadn't 'bothered' her, he couldn't help but feel as if he'd done something wrong somehow.
He was done. "Right... well find me when you actually want to talk," he said slowly as he got out of his seat. Zeke rest a hand on her shoulder, giving it a gentle squeeze, but that was all he could manage for now. He needed space, apparently more-so than he needed dinner and so his legs carried him back toward the entrance hall. Maybe he'd stop by the training room. Text Cut: Kaycee Quote:

She glanced at the plates hoping by some miracle they'd just skip the speech this year.
No luck.
She looked around the table hoping that at least the students had all filed in. But nope. It was still kind of empty. But hey. Maggie was here. She gave her friend a smiled. And there was Zeke. He got a smile too. She wasn't close enough to hear what they were talking about, but it actually didn't seem good.
Hm. She'd have to find out more about that later.
In the meantime, something else caught her eye. Like... what was that thing at the staff table!? It was creepy AND it seemed to be shouting fortunes.
Did they get a random old lady fortune cookie person? Random. He caught a glimpse of Kaycee as he moved to leave, and though he didn't have any beef with her he just couldn't bring himself to return the smile. Sorry.
