It looked like one of them was his new table neighbor! In between Cece and a handsome fellow--what a joyous joy this was! He enjoyed it all! Ansley hadn't been seated long when he heard several hello's, at least one of them he was sure was directed to him. "Ah, hello," he nodded at the man, reaching his hand to shake it. Yes, Paul Myers.. he was fairly certain he had met him at the pre-term staff meeting he had attended, though he was thankful for the reminder in name. Meeting so many people at once, it was at times difficult to match names with faces, though matching the position was a little easier. "Ansley Finch," he returned in kind, just in case he needed the reminder as well. He noted the man was quite distinguished looking, though maybe not his choice in attire for the evening. It certainly wasn't Ansley's taste in fashion, but he could always appreciate other people's self-expression. "Are you a music man, Paul?" He nodded towards the banjo the man had brought with him to the table. SPOILER!!: Airey Quote:

Hopefully so or else the Gryffindor Head of House's next question would be a rather foolish one. "Trust the journey here was a pleasant one?" As in...did his new set of prefects behave themselves? No worries for him on having badges stripped with this pairing? Speaking of Gryffindor, his blue eyes did look out over at the table as an, er, precaution. So far so good...which meant he needed to go over the words he had prepared for the evening. Oh, that was a Star Trek greeting, wasn't it? Ansley preferred Star Wars himself, though he did find it rather amusing that such words would come from the Astronomy professor. He was able to recognize the man as such, though the name he couldn't quite reach from the tip of his tongue. He had a tough time keeping names straight when he had so many of them to remember at the same time. "Fairly uneventful," he confirmed with a nod. "About what you'd expect from a train full of young people." Nothing he couldn't handle, though he couldn't help but to let his eyes drift to the entrance.
"Although there was a.. well, I'm pretty sure she was a hag, on the train." Of course, he knew what they were, but he hesitated to call her that just in the off chance she was just an eccentric old woman with poor hygiene. In that case, labeling her in that was would just be rude. "Is she employed here?" He wasn't sure why else she would be on the train, unless it was some sort of accident, but he also passed her in the entrance hall. SPOILER!!: Justin Quote:

"Evening," Ansley nodded in greeting to the man before thinking over his question. He had been here many more times than once or twice, but he understood the meaning. "I suppose this is my second go around." Quite a different experience as a teacher than a student he would expect. He took the offered hand and shook it. Right. He was fairly sure he had met him at the staff meeting.. or at least he thought. But he was thankful for the reminder in name as he sometimes had trouble committing them to memory when meeting several people at once. "Ansley," he offered, though he'd figure he already knew along with the position he was filling. SPOILER!!: Leo Quote:

Are you settling in all right in the History of Magic courters and classroom?" At least one new of the new professors weren't a completely new acquaintance. "That family portrait you painted now hangs in my parents living room. They've grown quite fond of it too." Reaching out for the water can, Leo poured some into his goblet and took a sip. Ansley was a little better acquainted with this man, having met him before accepting the job here at Hogwarts, and his name came a little easier. "Evening, Leo," he returned the greeting with a smile. "I am.. I have my office and some of the rooms set up, though I do have a little more work to do." That could wait till after the feast, or even tomorrow. There wasn't anything too pressing, just his own aesthetic preferences. "Ah, hot dog.. glad they enjoy it. Always nice to have happy customers." He offered Leo a bright smile. Happy customers often meant repeat customers or at least good references. SPOILER!!: Art Quote:

Art remembered that he liked teaching art history, then gave a wave and a big friendly grin to everyone. Ansley nodded to the older man next to arrive at the table. "Good to see you, Art." His name had been easier to remember and Ansley wasn't sure if it was because he had met him earlier in the summer outside of any staff meetings or putting together his classroom, or if because his name was Art. He chuckled lightly to himself at his own little joke, then remembered that he also had train chaperone duty. "How did the train ride find you?" SPOILER!!: Roderik Quote:
Another fellow (Julien) walked in, followed by another (Ansley). Though, the second one had walked in with some of the students, for Merlin knows what reason. He knew he could be here beforehand, yes? "Good evening. The name's Roderik Hirsch. Defence Against the Dark Arts." Yes, hello.
"Evening," Ansley nodded to the man friendly enough to greet him, though he squinted slightly in confusion. Had he not met him before at the staff meeting? Ansley supposed he couldn't be completely sure as there were many people new to him as well as much information to digest, but he figured he wouldn't have remembered his name anyway with as many as he needed to keep straight. It took him a little time to commit them to memory, and he was doing his best to do that now. "Ansley Finch.. History of Magic," he added, figuring the other man either didn't remember or didn't know already. SPOILER!!: Meredith and Ursula Quote:
Now Meredith would never hire anyone just because of their looks but it didn't hurt that some of the new staff looked like they were movie stars. Talk about dream-y. "Welcome, Roderik! So glad to have you here. Hope you're settling in okay." He seemed to be. "That goes for the two of you, as well!" She added as she smiled at Julien and Ansley, who were finding their seats.
Ansley returned the smile offered by the Headmistress. "Thank you, ma'am.. er, Meredith." That was okay to call her by her first name, wasn't it? He didn't know her all that well and wasn't sure, but he did call the principal at his old school by his first name. So it was likely alright? "Classroom is all ready to go," he confirmed with a nod. Of course there were a few minor details he needed to take care of, but lessons could still take place in spite of them.
And speaking of the hag he had seen on the train and asked the Astronomy professor about, his eyes followed her as she made her way to the staff table. "Someone's something of a pessimist," he chuckled to himself, hearing all her predictions of doom and gloom. But his eyes soon snapped to the Headmistress again. Divination? So she did work here?
