Post Harry Potter prequel, sequel, theme park attraction & more to come in 2016!

Thus begins 2016, the biggest year for the Wizarding World fandoms since the end of the Harry Potter film series in 2011.

Who would have thought, five years ago, that the world would return back in full-force with a new prequel film series, a third Universal Parks and Resorts attraction, and, the biggest thing of all - the long-awaited sequel to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - the two-part Cursed Child plays in London.

Let's start in chronological order. First will be the April 7, 2016 opening of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter attraction at Universal Studios Hollywood, which will bring the third incarnation of Hogwarts castle and Hogsmeade village to life for fans in Los Angeles.

Quote:
Upon entering the land through the archway, Hogsmeade will bustle to life with the same vitality of a quaint local village: merchants hard at work, a train conductor welcoming new arrivals and a pub packed to the gills with hungry patrons, but with the added element of enthusiastic guests intent on experiencing them all, including the land’s signature ride, “Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey,” and the family outdoor coaster, “Flight of the Hippogriff™.”

An achievement in pioneering theme park ride technology, “Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey” will make its U.S. debut at Universal Studios Hollywood in hyper-realistic 3D-HD designed to further immerse guests in an already engaging storyline.
Next up, and two months later, is the insanely anticipated eighth story based on Harry Potter's life, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Instead of a book version written by J.K. Rowling or film from Warner Bros. (for now), the Cursed Child will be a two-part play beginning this June at London's Palace Theatre. Shows all the way into 2017 are already sold out, to no surprise.

It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children.

While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.
Coming at the end of the year is the Wizarding World's return to the big screen, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Rowling wrote the script of the Harry Potter prequel based on the life of magizoologist Newt Scamander, played by Oscar-winner Eddie Redmayne.

The first installment of the scheduled trilogy comes to theaters this November, and follows Scamander as he finds himself in 1926 New York City, where he meets some of the most important people in his life, including future wife Porpentina (Katherine Waterston).

Quote:
“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” opens in 1926 as Newt Scamander has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident… were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt’s fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.
That's not all, of course. There's much more to come for Harry Potter fans around the world. January kicks off with the third annual A Celebration of Harry Potter convention at Universal Orlando Resort, with actors Rupert Grint, Bonnie Wright, Evanna Lynch, Matthew Lewis and Katie Leung set to attend.

Harry Potter: The Exhibition's current stop is in Shanghai, China until the spring, where it will continue its world journey this year.

Harry Potter fans will also always get a fix of their favourite series by visiting Warner Bros Studio Tour London - The Making of Harry Potter at Leavesden Studios in the UK, through J.K. Rowling's official Pottermore site, and all upcoming projects from the cast and crew of the series, including Daniel Radcliffe in Now You See Me 2, Tom Felton in Risen, Emma Watson in The Circle and much more.

This is all that's confirmed and scheduled for now. Never underestimate J.K. Rowling, Warner Bros. and all involved with the Wizarding World saga to have unexpected surprises up their sleeves... who knows what else may come this year.

To 2016, the great resurgence of Harry Potter and his Wizarding World, prequels, sequels, theme park attractions and so much more!
