With the sound of pencils landing upon the floor, Sam lifted his head to see the girl swiftly leaving her seat in order to move the trunk. Automatically, he bent down and helped her shove it away from the doorway. That was probably a fire hazard, too, blocking the exit.

"Thanks," he added with a smile, standing back up. "It's fine - I just didn't see it, that's all." Now further in the compartment, he settled himself on the seat across from her. He noticed that her things were back in her lap. It was his turn to speak, but Sam wasn't particularly good at striking up conversations with people he didn't know.

But certainly an introduction was a fine place to start. "I'm Sam," he finally said, offering another smile.
