Dot was doing her rounds... mental rounds, since she wasn't actually required to do real ones just yet, and she was already bored of being responsible. The train was long and lonely and she wanted to sit down now. And THERE was a friendly face!

"Sha. Why are you reading? You have to read all term, and you do NOT have to read now..." Dot wrinkled her nose at the fellow ginger as she sunk into a seat. Their lives were all about books, starting in a few short hours, and nothing would bring Dot to start a moment earlier.

"Did you see the old lady out there? She smells like cooking cabbage and onions. Looks like cooking cabbage too." Dot's mum was Polish. She knew the scent of cabbage.
