Part of Thornton thought that Paige might object to his leaving the Prefect's compartment to sit with her, but, well, he'd cross that bridge when they came to it. So to Dot's first suggestion, he nodded his assent.

To her second suggestion, he hesitated. A double date? He and Paige hadn't actually been on a proper date on their own. Not really. But it would be rude to say no, wouldn't it? "I'll ask her," he said deferring the need to make a decision. "I don't want to presume to speak for Paige..."
