"An auror?!" Davie's little mouth popped open and into a grin. "Congrats! Good for you, Head Babe!" Evie would always be the Head Babe to him, no matter how many bad guys she would go on to arrest, nor how many cases she would solve.

Anastasia would skin him if she found out.

No sooner was he about to offer some sort of warning advice or condition of such disclosure, when the topic of the dueling club was brought up. Sabel's smile did a bit of a waver, but he held it fast. "Thank you for joining, Truebridge. You did exceptionally well."

And as for next term? A slow breath out. "The club is scheduled to run again, but the ultimate decision will lie with your new Defense Professor." News. Dropped. He sped up a bit more to try and roll it all into something that really wasn't a big deal. "I've got some personal matters to attend to, so I won't be returning to Hogwarts."

Yeah there was that. But he wasn't going to leave it like that. Holding out his hand, in what he'd seen done as a fist-bump gesture, Sabel smiled at the kid. "It's been a slice."
The professor thought he'd done exceptionally well?! Fifth place didn't qualify as exceptional in Davie's world, but he did appreciate the compliment, and beamed at Dakest. "Well thanks, sir....." for... for... wait, what? NEW DEFENSE PROFESSOR?!! Davie's eyebrows knitted together in concern and disappointment as Dakest's news sunk in.

"N--n--no...nooooo....." the first year squeaked sadly. Personal matters? Couldn't he just... handle those from the school? He looked down at the professor's hand, not wanting to shake it or or or fist bump it or anything, because that would mean recognizing that he was leaving, and Davie really, really didn't want to do that. He couldn't think of an elegant way to keep Sabel here, though, so he choked it up and let out a long sigh. "I... really appreciated your lessons, s-sir. I learned so much. I'll miss you." He looked down and somberly returned the first bump.

Why did all the GOOD ONES have to leave?
