She didn't really appreciate being manhandled and scooted down the bench, though. She grunted and squawked as she tried keep her balance and shot him a dirty look when he sat in between her and Sophie. "Glad I didn't try to fight you," she muttered under her breath as she fixed her robes. Apparently Benzi's moping was over. You're welcome. Quote:

Maybe he'd ask Evie about it, she was good at destroying his ego when it got too big. Evie was one of the big reasons he'd made his way over to the Ravenclaw table, Damien wasn't gonna let the feast finish before coming to see her, his last night wouldn't be complete otherwise. He spotted her quickly, surprisingly sitting beside one Benzi Rider with a... Very busy Head Girl nearby. Which was fitting, given her boyfriend was getting the same treatment at the Gryffindor Table. It was a shame he hadn't gotten to know her more.
Standing behind the brunette, Damien tapped on Evie's shoulder. "Shacklebolt." He said, his voice light and warm. Suddenly he... Felt a bit out of place... Self-conscious in a way he'd never been.
He blamed the finality in the air, but he knew the real reason.
"Alright there, Benzi?" Damien said, nodding to the Prefect. If Evie as okay with him, then Damien was too, it was that simple. 'sides, he was a good guy.. Damien could feel it.
He'll admit, this was strange. Sitting beside Sophie Brown and her fanclub on one side, and Evangeline Shacklebolt on the other... it was strange. Benzi considered moving when said Evangeline spoke up - or muttered rather - and he grinned. Nope. This was the right place to be.
Especially since Hayley was all the way over with the Puffs and he would be all alone otherwise. "Damien! I'm good I'm good, just waiting for the good. Yourself?" he asked the Gryffindor, smiling and nodding as he joined them. Mentally, Benzi made a note to perhaps catch him on the train back home tomorrow. He wanted to keep in touch with this one.
Seeing that Evie was now talking to Damien and Sophie Brown busy with her adoring crowd, Benzi decided this was the perfect time to slip out and go write in the memory book. See ya. Text Cut: Sophie Brown Botros was giving his speech - it was a little bit weird and made Sophie Brown squint, but hearing that ZANDER ADAIR was one of the top five students for those camps and would get an internship made her WOOP AND HOLLER. "THAT'S MY BOYFRIEND!" was her shout and cheer, and she threw him a BIG OL' GOOFY GRIN over at the Gryffindor table because SHE KNEW IT ALL ALONG. He was SO WORRIED and SO unsure of his future, but things were just FALLING INTO PLACE FOR HIM LEFT AND RIGHT. WOOP WOOP. Now he had this, and he had Flammy's connections, and-- gosh, Zander Adair. What a wonderful life he was living.
When the speech was over, Soph settled into her seat with a dazed sort of smile, proud of the Head Boy for all he'd done, and little Davie nearby got a BIG OL' THUMBS-UP, too. Good on him, the little man. Even BETTER than her most-earned points for Ravenclaw - he was getting SPECIAL RECOGNITION. Too cool, little Truebridge.
...But there was an owl. Swooping into the Great Hall, it caught Soph's attention just as she'd gone to pile potatoes onto her plate to devour, and... it was heading right toward her group at the Ravenclaw table, then... landed quite ungracefully in front of her, knocking over her goblet and staring at her with its beady eyes.
"For me?" Who in Merlin's name would send her mail? At this time? So late in the term? If they'd sent it any later, she wouldn't have even been at Hogwarts, so why was...? Why was it so important that she'd gotten it here? Hum. Curiously, Soph pulled her bag from the floor into her lap, fished around for owl treats, and offered them to the messenger in exchange for the letter, her brows furrowed in a mixture of confusion and... concentration as she immediately tore into the envelope, completely oblivious to the contents of her goblet that were still soaking the tabletop.
...Oh. Sweet. Merlin.
The moment she saw who the sender was, her eyes widened and she leaned toward the letter eagerly, unable to read the words quickly enough for her liking. IRA BANNER. APPRENTICE. OLLIVANDERS. NO ONE ELSE WORTHY. ADEQUATE CANDIDATE. OFFER. PROMPT REPLY.
"YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!" SHE EXPLODED UP ONTO HER FEET AND OUT INTO THE AISLE SHE WENT, JUMPING AROUND AND SHRILLY SQUEALING AND BEAMING LIKE SHE'D JUST WON A MILLION GALLEONS. "YES YES YES YES YEEEEEEEEEES FINALLY!!!!" SHE'D DONE IT. IRA BANNER WANTED HER. HE WANTED TO TRAIN HER TO BE HER WANDMAKER. SHE WAS GOING TO WORK AT OLLIVANDERS AND HER DREAM WAS ACTUALLY REALLY TRULY COMING TRUE!!!!!!!!!
There were tears blurring her vision - finally happy ones - but it didn't stop her from suddenly bolting toward the staff table, her cheeks alight with jovial color to accompany the smile that wasn't leaving her face any time soon.
Nothing to see here, kids.[/QUOTE]
Benzi had just taken his seat opposite the rest of the seventh years when Botros made his speech. The Ravenclaw frowned during the entire time their Headmaster talked, and wondered if Bortros' memory was going. It was kind of sad to be honest. Opening his mouth to share his thoughts with the group, Benzi was stunned silent as Sophie Brown let out an inhuman screech and before anyone knew it, was off to show whatever the letter had contained off the staff.
... Right. Cool. Congratulations. Food time! Text Cut: SABEL DAKEST THE ONE AND ONLY Quote:

After Gryffindor, his feet steered him towards the Ravenclaw table. There were two things he needed to deliver, sooner rather than later.
Upon arriving, he found a rather glum looking Rooney with a discarded plate. With a frown, Sabel moved over and nudged the kid gently. "Good job in the dueling club, Bronwyn. I'm sure you'll be a force to be reckoned with. Just keep practicing."
There was a Truebridge that caught his eye across the table, and Sabel hesitated a moment before letting out a breath. Moving about to the kid, Sabel casually reached over his shoulder and snagged a small bun. The motion allowed him to lean in close enough to whisper confidentially in his ear so that no one else could hear. "If you're still curious about that memory, talk to Sander." Pulling back, he gave the kid an elbow bump. "Congratulations on reining victorious."
Now, where were......AH HA. There they were.
Stuffing the bun uncerimoniously in his mouth, Sabel chewed on it as he made his way over to the Rider and the Shacklebolt. Stuffing one hand in each pocket, he pulled out two letters, flipped them both about and then handed them to the kids. "As promised."
They could read them when they pleased, or not read them at all. "If you would like to hand them in yourselves, you are more than welcome. However, if you would like me to deliver them personally, then I will do so."
There was no smile for either of them. They both knew how grave of a matter he viewed this as, but that didn't mean he didn't understand. Didn't support them in it. "If you two need anything, you let your co-workers know. You let your Department Head know. You let me know. You got it?"
Happily plowing through his potatoes, Benzi was trying to locate his girlfriend in the great hall when a certain VERY IMPORTANT Professor made his way towards the Ravenclaw table. Swallowing quickly and wiping his mouth, the seventh year watched curiously as he walked forward and OH. A LETTER. For him and Evie.
Oh. OH. This must be the recommendation they were promised. ... Whoa. Unlike Evie, Benzi stared at the hand offering him the letter for a bit before he slowly took it, heart thundering as he held it between his fingers. A recommendation letter from Professor Sabel Dakest to the DMLE, telling them they should accept him into their exclusive program.
And they could either choose to hand it in themselves or have Dakest do it. No no, Benzi wanted Dakest to do it. But.. he also wanted a copy for himself. Flicking his wand out of its wrist holster, Benzi quickly muttered his now perfected protean charm, folded up the fake copy and handed the original back to Dakest as he stood. Or, well, he'd wait for Miss Evangeline Shacklebolt to stop hugging him, and then he would. "Professor, if you could hand it in, I'd be.. really grateful." And now he did smile. "Thank you." You know, for basically everything. For making his two years here worthwhile. For teaching him, for believing in him, for not pestering him to talk when he didn't want to.
So... Yes. Benzi extended his hand out. A thank you handshake was about to happen.
