Tala’s brow furrowed with confusion and displeasure as the Jorge continued on, and on, and on, talking in great detail about how rude the three Department Heads had been and explaining himself away. Tala had never heard anyone speak this much, but be all the more so confusing for it. It was taking quite a bit of Tala’s restraint not to say something to the reporter, to remain calm, and not feed the anger that was bubbling in the pit of her stomach as he called into question the professional nature of three people she cared for and in a smirking, amused way that just... Just rubbed her the wrong way.
She couldn’t leader anger bubble over, she had to be calm, had to handle this diplomatically. She thought of Lucas and how he managed to keep cool no matter what the situation, merlin, how did he do it? Tala took a deep breath and returned Jorge’s attention with a level gaze and tense shoulders.
Another deep breath. He thought she should be ashamed for letting Emmalee and Harmony speak, He was speaking to her like she was being held on retainer by the two other women. This wasn’t cute, it wasn’t funny, and Jorge was not charming in the slightest, but Tala only nodded and took his card, not trusting herself to properly reply to all that without her emotion showing. “Yeah, uh, thank you… I’ll put this card with the one I have from Miss MacIntyre. We’ve been in touch about werewolf stuff for a few months...” Tala said. She was wondering if Scout had spoken to Jorge, if the two were working together, but it seemed unlike the older reporter to her. “Yes, well… We’ll be in touch.” Idly, her hand came up to play with her ring in an attempt to remind herself once more of Lucas and to tether herself. She hoped he would be by soon, he said he was on his way…
O___O
Was she allowed to take money from the Prophet? This looked like it was a very large amount, goodness. Tala muttered a surprised thank you and quickly tucked the pouch into the jar. Quietly, wearily, she watched Jorge gather his things and turn to his wife and for the first time since he’d arrived she let out a breath of relief.
Tala’s name was suddenly being called out.
She blinked, big eyes slightly wide. Uh. That was… different, not unpleasant though. It even brought a giggle out of the young woman as she turned to the Department Head.
“Oh, with a button, did you want to buy one?” Tala said, shoulders slumping as she began to relax. “they’re seven sickles each, and we have pamphlets too, if you’d like to take one.” Tala helpfully said, picking one out and handing it to the man.
