"YES!" he yelled as he jumped to his feet, "I'm so proud of you!" Cue the BIGGEST BEAM ON HIS FACE. SHE DID IT. SHE WAS GOING TO REALISE HER DREAMS.
"Come here!" he said with a red face (due to excitement this time) as he hastily walked down to give her A BIG PROUD HAPPY HUG! HE WAS CHOKING AND DYING BUT THEN HE WASN'T AND HE WAS SMILING AND YELLING AND HE WAS PROUD OF HER.
SHE HAD MADE HIM PROUD.

Her eyes welling with fresh tears as he met her for a hug, Sophie squeeeeeezed his torso in the biggest bear hug she could manage and sniffled. "Thanks." It was just one word, but there was a lot of weight to it - she was thanking him not just for his congratulations or the hug, but for everything he'd done for her. For inspiring her, for encouraging her to follow her dreams, for letting her know that it was okay to follow more than just ONE dream, and for being her mentor for the last six years. The moment her OTHER needed presence joined them, Soph pulled away from Culloden, wiped her eyes, and looked expectantly up at the man standing before her--
And there it was. The proud smile she had so desired, and it was soon accompanied by a hug, which Soph reciprocated eagerly, her tears still freely flowing, and made this into yet another big ol' professor bear hug as she sniffled out another, "Thanks."

...But then in the next moment, Sophie Brown, in all her fearless ways, was abruptly tugging Culloden in so it was ONE BIG HAPPY PROFESSOR-SOPHIE BROWN GROUP HUG.
Potioneer-hating Auror, meet Auror-hating Potioneer. They were best friends now, did they see it? WERE THE FRIENDSHIP SPARKS FLYING? SHE LOOKED UP AT THEM WITH A BIG, GOOFY GRIN TO SEE IF THEY'D JUST FALLEN INTO FRIENDSHIP LOVE AFTER ALL THIS TIME.
