And though the hair stroking was incredibly strange, Zander was pretty impressed that Cutty came all the way over to make sure Zander had gotten his paycheck. See, and people had been worried when they found out he was going to work for the Slytherin! All nonsense. Cutty was completely trustworthy. He'd never do anything without telling Zander about it first.

Except Zander didn't exactly have a vault at Gringotts, but the fact that Cutty kind of assumed... Made Zander feel embarrassed to admit otherwise. So he just nodded. "Oh good call, I will!" Ahem.

Also, ummmm... "Thanks for setting me up with the job, Cutty, it's been a lot of fun." Y'know, while it lasted.
