And it seemed to work well enough in at least in using up some of his energy to hold onto his wand.
However, once he negated the spell, she knew she only had seconds before he would deflect something on her, so just seconds before he cast his spell of choice, the sixth year uttered another charm, "Protego!" to shield against charms and jinxes and deflect it back at him (hopefully).
And as she heard his spell choice, she was grateful, even though she was pretty sure dueling blindfolded wouldn't be the worst thing in the world except she wouldn't be able to see her target. "Cantis!" she cast again after hearing the blindfold spell. She just hoped Benjamin was a good singer ... though after casting it, she almost wished she'd cast the babbling charm instead.
