Benzi Rider up against Cutty Mordaunt. He supposed it was bound to happen eventually. Better now than the final duel of the year.

Aware of Cutty's intimate knowledge of his casting styles, Benzi had spent the last few days reading up on alternative and unique ways of tackling opponents, only realising towards the end that he liked the way he went about his defenses and didn't want to change anything at all. He was perfectly capable of beating Cutty, he just needed to be clever about it.

Speaking of, they were off. Bowing and ignoring whatever it was Cutty was on about - Bond? Like that fictional muggle bloke? - he raised his wand, relaxed his shoulders and remained silent. Benzi did not believe in idle chitchat during duels, especially when he was hyper aware of Dakest's presence behind the bubble they were in.

The seventh year was halfway into conjuring up a shield when out of Cutty's wand appeared a snake and not a spell. Well. All right. Changing tactics, Benzi cast "Waddiwasi!" at the reptile and launched it back towards his friend's face. Instantly realising a flying snake was almost a perfect distraction and a golden opportunity, Benzi took a step forward and sent a jelly-brain jinx towards Cutty as well.
