Davie was lucky his second-round duel was with another first year. His BFF Charlotte? She had to duel someone TWO YEARS above her. If he had to do that, he'd probably just come into the duel and pretend to faint so he could get out of it. But since he was just dueling fellow first year Owen, Davie wasn't too scared. He was just really really really determined NOT to lose this time. Once a person got into a losing streak, it was really hard to come out of it!

So as the duel started, and after they both bowed and marched back a few paces, Davie began with a quick and reliable spell for him, just to check Owen's reflexes. "Expelliarmus!" He cast quickly and confidently.
