He tore his attention away from the tree he had been working on look in Myers's direction.

The Hufflepuff put some thought into all three questions but raised his hand to answer the first one. "The soil could have lots or too little of nutrients that could overwhelm the plants or cause them not to have enough.'' That's what he reasoned, anyway. Maybe someone messed up in mixing the fertiliser with the soil was what he was thinking.

Paul nodded at Adi. “Right on the nose, Adi! Yes, very good. Soil can...be quite problematic when it comes to nutrient intake. These trees can directly ‘decide’ for lack of a better word...how many nutrients they take in on their own, with no..middle man per say.” He liked the word middle man for soil.

Anyways, she had an answer. Sort of. Perhaps a response was a better term for what she had. "One drawback for growing a plant in soil would be that it's more work for me." And that was a bad thing. You had to keep the soil moist and um... there was more to it, yeah?

Oh well. She tried. That counted for something, she was sure of it.

Paul HAD to laugh at that one! “Well...some people MIGHT argue that these trees are more high maintenance, Miss Valentine…” he smirked. “But okay!”

SPOILER!!: Zander

Uh.

Okay.

Moving on then....

Zander listened carefully as Professor M explained how the trees got all that they needed, though he had known the answer all along. Added a few good nods along the way, but otherwise... He was ready to do the thing. And by that, he meant ready to water one of the plants. Seeing a lot of students gravitate towards the other two, he chose to walk to the one that wasn't as crowded. Holding his wand up, he cast a quick "Aguamenti," letting a bit of water come out from the tip of his wand before stopping the flow, "Finite."

Didn't need to give it too much, y'know? 'Sides, other kids were gonna water it too... So...

The antigravity thing was MEGA COOL though. Even Zander had to admit.

Okay, but Zander didn't actually mind those mindless memory games. It meant having to do less thinking. Which y'know, he was very okay with, actually. The less thinking, the better. The less meditating, the better too... But it did waste some class times so... Ahem.

As for the questions, his first thought was that soil meant having to find space. Space was a limit when dealing with potted plants. But he saw many hands raised for that particular question, so he just kept quiet.

Eh, okay. He should probably end up saying something at some point... So second question it was. "I feel like you'd need more upkeep with these trees... 'Cause when they're in soil, a lot of those nutrients and minerals come naturally. But like you said, you really need to check up on these ones and make sure they get all they need. So to supplement that... You've got to make sure they get enough fertilizer, and you need to keep your eye out making sure to replace it with new fertilizer every now and then... Which is probably be a lot of work."

The end.

Paul nodded at Mr. Adair. “I would say yes, some people think these are more upkeep in that you need to...make sure they have enough...yes.” Th Gryffindor was quite right!

“You mean...that a tree might have more room in the air?” That’s what he thought she was saying? “If so--yes! I agree. I think these trees really have room to...streeeeetch!”

Raising her hand she said, "It doesn't bother me, but I know a lot of people don't like getting dirty. That would be a drawback of planting in soil since it's rather impossible to avoid that happening." She always got soul on her clothes when she was working in the garden.

“Yep! That too, Miss Holiday! No dirty when with these guys--” he smiled and patted the trunk of the one near him.

SPOILER!!: Janelle

Janelle sat with her chin resting on her hands and listened with fascination to the information about the Gravity Resistant trees.

And then it was time to go to work. Janelle picked a tree and went over to it. She took out her wand and tapped it gently to the tree's roots, saying "Aguamenti" simultaneously. Then she stood back and watched the magic happen. The water was absorbed by the trees roots and by the looks of things, the tree must have been pretty thirsty. The whole thing was very cool and Janelle would have been happy to watch that process for the whole class.

Of course that was not all that they would be doing today. It was question time again and it seemed that the professor had several questions to ask. When she decided which question she would tackle, Janelle raised her hand. "I think growing a Gravity Resistant tree would be a problem if they were in a very dry place. If it didn't rain very often they would be lacking water and all of the things that they could get from the water. They would especially be in trouble if they didn't have a very dedicated person taking care of them and giving then the things that they couldn't get in nature."

“Well, you could always...cast the charm on the roots to give them water, of course, but I do think your point about not having a dedicated caretaker WOULD make these trees less desirable for people who just want a nice, easy plant...these are serious business!” He nodded.

So Dot had absolutely no problem reaching out a hand and giving the closest tree a pat-pat-pat on the roots, just to continue bonding.

It was... fine. Not life changing, but not awful either. "Aguamenti," she pointed her wand at the roots and watched as the water coalesced around the root system rather than splashing to the floor. Very cool.

As for the follow-up question? She raised her hand. "One, trees in dirt are dirty compared to no dirt, but two, they're also stationary. Like I can take this tree with me wherever I go as long as it fits through the door. I can take care of it indoors or outdoors depending on the weather."

Paul had grown in fondness for Miss Wojack. He couldn’t quite tell why, but something about the girl was quite genuine.

Ahahahaah! [B]“Like a pet tree, Dot?”[?B] he asked softly, thinking of like...tying a leash to one of these bad boys and pulling it around! HOW FUN would that be?!

SPOILER!!: Hi Tia!

Like she was pretty sure if she were to choose a Herbology field, experimentation was totally her calling. Herbology just got way more fascinating; it was always interesting but the fact that they could cross-breed trees and plants was just AMAZING. The sixth year truly had no words to describe her awe.

After finishing jotting down some notes and ideas of her own, Tia went over to one of the hovering trees and just admired it for a moment. Ugh, if she only had a camera. She wondered if Pao ever got to see one of these trees? Right. Water. "Aguamenti," she cast non-verbally, swishing her wand at the tree and watched in admiration as the water clung to the root.

Standing there an extra moment longer before glancing up at Professor Myers who was continuing with more questions, she listened as some of her peers seemed to support soil trees more. Did they not see how AMAZING these trees were? That there were very little drawbacks here? "Well, Professor, I think once this tree is bred, then the maintenance on these trees is much neater and easier. However if we're starting from scratch, then cross-breeding I've heard can be very challenging and you might not get the result that you're hoping for. So really it depends on if we're talking about maintenance or growing from a seedling. These trees have the maintenance advantage that they're portable without the mess and they get its nutrients from just sucking things up. You don't need to feed it anything, but it just absorbs whatever right from the environment. With soiled trees, they require much more attention and there's more chance of over-feeding or over-watering."

“Oh...that’s an interesting though, Miss Mancini! The...purebred ones, per say, and the newly cross-bred ones. I hadn’t thought of it--the four of these here are all ‘purebred,’ meaning they are the product of an already in existence Gravity Resistance Tree.”

He nodded. “Some people think soil trees are more work...other people would argue these are...but you’re right, with regular trees...it is possible to overwater them. These, too, can sometimes wilt from too much sunlight, but there’s no real way to water them too much.” You could underwater them, though.

SPOILER!!: Candice

They get to water the floating tree? YES! She quickly choose one of the trees that close to her and pointed her wand at it and made sure that she's not too close or too far from the roots. "Aguamenti!" She watched the water came out from the tip of her wand went towards the roots. The water was noy sticking to the roots.

After she finished watering the floating trees, Myers asked them tree questions. That's tree to many, Professor. She decided to answer the second question "One of the drawback of growing a floating plant is that it require some regular attention. If we growing a soil-based plant, it can be left to its own devices for weeks without total demise." Well, there might be weed and bugs, but the plants, in general, can be revived.

He nodded at Miss Messer and smiled warmly. “Yes, that is a key point, mhmm.” Which tree was more work was a matter of opinion, but all of his students had argued their points validly, so he was fine with those answers.

SPOILER!!: Norah

She moved forward to cast the spell a little later than the rest of her classmates, still trying to finish up her notes, then cast a quick "Aguamenti!" and watched the water go up to the tree's roots. Unbelievable AGAIN. These things just never failed to be impressive. She grinned at Professor Myers and put her hand up immediately for the next question. Who needed thinking when she could just guess? "Weeeeell, one drawback of plants in the soil is that they're stuck, so you can't take 'em with you unless you dig them up and give them a new home, but if they've been growing for long enough it's not very easy to keep them all in tact when you try to take them out." Plus it was MEAN. Just unrooting a plant from it's very own home like that was pretty much the epitome of rudeness, if you asked her.

“It is..very prudent to repot plants that are growing in a pot...but with enormous trees like these, you are very correct--we cannot take them around with us. Very good!” He grinned….and still totally dug Dot’s idea about pet plants. It made him chortle just a little to himself.

So...Paul looked around for more answers. Anything else, wise students of Hogwarts? Nooo? Well then...IT WAS TIME FOR FUN!

“ALL RIGHT EVERYONE!” call to order! “...so...now that we’ve discussed QUITE a bit...we’re moving onto the main activity. If you haven’t been able to tell already, the four trees are...not doing so hot. They’re sick! It was probably not noticeable on first glance, but if one took a closer look... “I...wanted to show you all that while these trees are very different from soil grown trees...they are also...still trees.” He paused to make sure everyone was paying attention. The activity was...GAH Paul was SO looking for to it!

“They are very sick. They have various things wrong with them...and so…Pair up with someone. Leaves need to be cut, dead branches need to be cut, flaky parts of the bark need to be sliced off, carefully...there are parts of the trees that are infested with bugs….get the bugs out! They might need some water on their roots...or some more fertilizer. The fertilizers are located on the sides of the greenhouse. Smearing them on the roots will be just fine--or any other magical means of doing so is fine as well! Since the trees are floating...you are going to need to shoot each other up into the air...using Mobilicorpus.” He thought that was the fun part! THEY GOT TO DO THINGS IN THE AIR! The trees were all now up near the top of the Greenhouse...a few of them had even slanted sideways. Oh the joys of NO GRAVITY.

“I would like you all to alternate so that the same person isn’t doing all of the aiming and the other person stuck doing ALL of the labor. So...split the tasks however you want, but each group MUST do four tasks, each person doing two tasks and two aiming things. Communication is KEY. Have FUN with this.”

He waved his hand, gesturing them to go ahead and BEGIN!

OOC: OKAY I am going to try to simplify this into terms that are understandable. Basically, there are four floating sick trees. They are all pretty high up in the greenhouse, so in order to do any of the tasks, one person needs to aim their partner at the tree, while the person being aimed needs to actually DO the task. I would like four posts per students, two aiming, two labor.
Things wrong with the trees that can be attended to:
-Bug infestations in little hidey-holdes in the trunks (manual removal)
-Dead leaves that need to be trimmed (diffindo or flipnsnipwitit)
-Dead branches that need to be cut off (diffindo)
-Dead pieces of bark on the trunks that should be sliced off (diffindo)
-Some roots might be in need of water (aguamenti)
-Some roots might be in need of fertilizer (manual)
So, four posts, each person doing two of those tasks and then two fun aiming posts. Have fun with this! The characters realistically would need to be talking to each other to figure out like, where they have to aim each other and stuff! I am giving you all about 36 hours to get these posts in! <3 (also, so sorry this post is so enormous >.<

And...catchup posts are allowed!
