It seemed like Dot and the professor were having a very good moment right now, and she wasn't going to ruin it by being squeamish about the tree. No dirt, and trees were big solid things that required specific love and attention. She got trees. Yes. So Dot had absolutely no problem reaching out a hand and giving the closest tree a pat-pat-pat on the roots, just to continue bonding.
It was... fine. Not life changing, but not awful either. "Aguamenti," she pointed her wand at the roots and watched as the water coalesced around the root system rather than splashing to the floor. Very cool.
As for the follow-up question? She raised her hand. "One, trees in dirt are dirty compared to no dirt, but two, they're also stationary. Like I can take this tree with me wherever I go as long as it fits through the door. I can take care of it indoors or outdoors depending on the weather."
