Well, she was really good at doing it around everyone else. Always knew how to put on a show. But clearly, everyone else knew something was up too. Which meant she was definitely broken.
He was hardly even paying attention to his own potion now, adding in the peppermint very lazily. Once the peppermint was all in, he grabbed his metal stick (not cleaning it from the last time it was used) and began stirring slowly. Was he stirring clockwise or counterclockwise?? Did it really even matter anymore?
Again he waved his wand. And lastly, he put out the fire.
And Sophie’s head was down. Something had gone terribly wrong, hadn’t it?
Er…. Assuming his potion went terribly wrong too because this smelled absolutely vile. Uh.
He wanted to ask Culloden, but seeing as he was with Soph, Zander decided to wait. This would also give him a good excuse to stick around and grab Sophie after class. Solid.
So uh, maybe a love potion gone terribly wrong was actually a good thing? Eh. Quote:

First thing first, he got his wand out and swiftly summoned the dropper back from the potion. He carefully held it with the sleeve of his robe. It wasn't poisonous or anything, but you never knew. He went over to the sink to wash it as she explained and - ew, what was that smell?! - then beckoned Zander to come to Sophie. "Depends on how much salamander blood you had sucked in it," he said calmly to show her it was OKAY as he cleaned his sleeve, dried the dropper and cleaned it with magic too. "You don't quit. Everyone does mistakes all the time. Sure, your potion will probably drive the drinker mad with how strong the effect will be, but..." He sighed. Zander, say something. Including the terrible smell that was getting stronger? Her head still in her arms, Soph made a grumpy noise at Culloden's words. "I didn't suck up much in there at all 'cause I knew I wasn't gonna need a whole lot." Eight drops was very little salamander blood, and Soph knew better than to take more than she needed. She was pretty good at gauging how many drops she could get out of a certain amount extracted into the dropper by now, but... she turned her head to face him, still using his arms as a pillow under her head as she shrugged, "Couldn't've been more than a few more drops left in there."
...Her potion would drive the drinker mad? SO IT WAS RUINED. The tears continued to pool in her eyes as she looked from Culloden to Zander, then back at the professor, then she let out a soft whimper of despair and buried her head back in her arms.
"I don't do mistakes. M'supposed to be your best student." And now he probably hated her and wouldn't write her letters of recommendation and wouldn't want to invent potions together some day. SHE HAD RUINED E V E R Y T H I N G.
