Did she want to get her hopes up for nothing? No. Did she want an excuse to dress up and have a night out on the town? Yes.
The yes-es won out over the no-s, and so Tori appeared in the park at precisely 18:00, dressed to the nines, her hair long, loose and wavy, her fur draped loosely about her shoulders as a princess' would, her lipstick on and perfectly matte. (Princesses didn't always wear glossy, see.) She looked around eagerly for the confetti, taking a few shy, high-heeled steps toward the nearest streetlamp to see if she could spot it.
All she hoped was that this really really REALLY wasn't a prank by one of her friends. Okay? Just don't stand her up, Anonymous Admirer. That was all she wanted. Paulie was hiding behind a big Oak tree and peeking out at his surroundings for any sign of her. His gray sweater most closely resembled knight armor, and thus the basis for wearing it. Okay, it was also a comfy, CLASSY sweater. He sniffed his sleeve to make sure he remembered cologne. He did say six o'clock, right? He glanced down at his watch that read six o'clock on the dot, and when he looked back up, there she was. And.... whoa.
Whoa, she looked stunning. And, for a short period, he WAS stunned. His eyes just kinda soaked her up for a nice little while, leaving him blissfully unaware of how he was allowing her to stand there with no crown confetti to follow.
Oops.
Now, he DID snap out of it, of course. And when he did, the excitement began to stir in him, and a grin found its way onto his face. After retrieving his wand from his back pocket, he gave it a flick and watched as little shimmery crown shapes sprinkled at Tori's feet. He directed them along the pathway, around a park bench with a sleeping old man, over to the pond, IN the pond, back onto the pathway, and eventually over to the Oak tree where he was. Now, he could have directed her on a straight path from where she was now to where he was, but where was the fun in that?
