Creating and breaking, yes." Blood magic, yes. Botros was already impressed with Zeke's enthusiasm to learn more and link what he knew with what Ab was telling him.
"Blood magic is a very powerful means. It is why Runes are sort of activated when a wizard is near or in contact with them. With blood magic, runes can be very dangerous." It was why he dropped this segment of this science in school. Kids didn't have to have ideas of how powerful one could get with little help from blood magic. That was something for when they were more mature and able to assess right and wrong. "I see you're very interested in this subject, is there a reason you're asking, son? Other than your desire to study Curse-Breaking?" Hmm? Zeke was nodding, doing his best to make like a sponge and absorb everything the Headmaster said. It wasn't everyday that one had a private audience with the man, after all, had to make the most of it. And what the Headmaster said not only made sense, but it had him thinking of one of his earlier questions - one that he'd asked himself when the idea of Curse Breaking had presented itself. "That's another thing I wondered about. I mean, whether I could do the job is one thing, but because Curse Breaking mostly works around ancient sites, what would my prospects be in terms of job opportunities and security? Would it not get to the point where the work would run out as sites are excavated and cleared of value?" Because really, there was only so much gold and value in the world, he couldn't see it lasting forever, and he had to think of himself in all of this. Was there a modern application of the skills? Something he hadn't heard or thought of?
And blood magic. THAT stuff, was truly fascinating, he wouldn't lie. So with more nodding he communicated his understanding and respect for the field of study. Super dangerous... but also super cool. Not that he'd say THAT out loud, but it was true.
When Botros questioned his interest, he didn't at all feel as if he was being interrogated, they were two men having a chat. Mmhhmm. He was convinced of this, so he spoke freely. Of course, it helped when he had nothing to hide. "Not really, I mean it is interesting, and at this stage I just want to have a better sense of what I know, and what I need to know... if that makes sense?" Did it? He wasn't sure. "Do you think this is something I could do, Headmaster?" he asked, curious for the man's assessment. "Do you think I could study Ancient Runes at OWL and NEWT level?"
