As she (or, rather, her portrait) gasped loudly in protest, Davie also hurriedly cast the same spell on Genny's dad's portrait, because he KNEW HIM and he didn't want to get caught, and then also on Cassandra Rae, the President of the Board of Governors. ALL these people knew his mum and therefore knew him by association and/or they WERE his mum. So. He was just protecting himself and his bestie.

Now that they were inside properly, Davie pressed his finger to his lips and started tiptoing around to check out stuff. "HEY," he whispered excitedly to Char, "we should look for that pensieve from DADA while we're here!" If it wasn't Dakest's, then it HAD to be Botros'. Davie was sure of it.

"Oh that was smart!" Char whispered, meaning the blindfolds. And then she realised that POSSIBLY portrait!Tate and portrait!Rae-Branxton and portrait!Davie's mum would recognize her VOICE so she worked on disguising that too. Sort of. Little!girl version of manly and gruff. Which was fail, but at least it didn't sound like her normal voice and that was the point.

"You want to look at some memories?" She asked curiously in her fake voice. That COULD be fun, but they had to speak with the hat first and have it actually fix things since it had sorted her wrong and all.

..... and there were a LOT of interesting things to catch her attention in here. A LOT. But priorities involved the HAT. She wasn't here to be a snoop (at least that wasn't the intention).

So where was the hat?
