He was going to finally make it all up to Flamsteed. It's what the past two years had been all about. All lead up to this moment. His destiny. But Merlin, Blaise was really hard to get through to. No wonder the kid ended up a Gryffindor sort.

"Perfect," he grinned, deciding stupidly to take the flattery. But he still didn't buy it. He knew how this kind of stuff worked. It's what he had been doing to Moxley since day one. Flattery would not change things. "Professor Baxter and York will definitely be glad to hear that you're not giving up, bet they'll be impressed with you." Or something along those lines. Eh.

Wait, what? Blaise wanted to start... Right now?

This made Zander very suspicious, but the Gryffindor kept the smile and nodded anyways. Ahem. Man, what Zander would give to know what was gong on in that little head. His smile only faltered when Blaised mentioned nonverbals. Uh. See actually, the door closing was literally the one thing he had been able to do all term. Of course he'd gotten the nonverbal thing a few times, but never consistent and never-- Wait. "Errr thanks, I've been working on some stuff, nothing too great yet..." he trailed off realizing this was way beyond the point. LIGHTBULB! "Anyways, I just realized... You're a writer, right? Have you ever used invisible ink?" He slipped his hand into his bag, reaching around inside it to find something very specific. Why hadn't he remembered this before?!

The smile he'd forced on threatened to remove itself completely. It was a wonder it was still present at all as the Head Boy said what he obviously thought would make this situation better. "I dunno. I think they were happy when I didn't show up to class." One less kid to make it seem like they weren't teaching well enough. If, in theory, all the other kids got the spell right at some point and he still couldn't even make sparks with his wand, one would assume he was either extremely stupid or they weren't doing their jobs.

Granted, the possibility he was stupid was really real and it made him even more discouraged. What if he was genuinely just terrible at this sort of stuff and was destined to sell hot dogs in the streets of Diagon Alley while all his friends became successful witches and wizards who insisted on extra ketchup but little mustard?????????

WHAT IF HE SQUIRTED TOO MUCH MUSTARD ANYWAY AND THEY LAUGHED ABOUT HIM NOT DOING THAT WELL EITHER???????

Just couldn't risk it.

This was turning out okay though. He said he wanted to start now and got asked about writing?? Why hadn't he found Zander sooner? Blaise leaned forward in his seat, trying to get a look at whatever the older boy might have been fishing around for. "I haven't. I don't see the point 'cause I want people to SEE what I write." Cue leaning over even further. "Why?"
