be curious, not judgmental Since her father's murder, Sophie Brown had been going a bit overboard trying to sugarcoat things and convince herself that everything was okay. Because it was, wasn't it? The world hadn't ended. She'd been gone for a week for mourning and funeral purposes, but she was back now, and she was certain that everyone had heard by now why she was gone, so she had to work really hard to make sure people still treated her the same and didn't use a pitying attitude with her. She just wanted to have fun and make people laugh and make the most of her last term at Hogwarts, okay? None of those sad faces or depressing tones or overabundance of offers of hugs from people. No, she was fine.
She had to be.
So she had been taking excessive liberties to make everyone think things were okay. A lot of laughter here, a lot of playfulness and teasing here, all the smiles she could muster, and all the fun at every turn. She didn't like to linger much - she'd just been jumping from one train of thought to the next, one distraction after another, and make sure no one had time to pity her or tell her how sorry they were. Nope, she was just gonna keep moving.
And currently, her choice of distraction was to bother Flammy.
"Admiralllll," she called as she did her usual knocking rhythm on the door. "S'Captain Brown." A fair warning in case he needed to hide his graduation present for her or something. Heeeehehehe.
