be curious, not judgmental

It was actually a really nice relief when it was Nick's turn. Soph had always liked the Gryffindor house ghost a lot, best of all four house ghosts, and she listened to his story with a smile. He was so proud of his bravery; it was admirable. And when he mentioned his Deathday Party coming up in October, the smile faded.

Never again would she be around for one of Nick's Deathday Parties. Sad, sad times.

It was always really cool when Nick pulled his head aside and showed the little bit that was still attached, as oddly depressing as it was, and Soph watched her peers' faces instead of Nick when he did it, just to see how other people reacted. It was super sad that he'd been killed in the first place and suffered the way he had, but a really cool trick, all things considering.

Nick's answer to Zander's question made her smile again, though, and Soph watched Zander's response to the question this time. She knew just how much Zander loved his house ghost, so she had no doubt that the feelings were reciprocated and there was part of the ghost's answer that was referring to the young man sitting before him who had asked the question.

So, so cute.

A duel that lasted seven hours, though? Soph couldn't even imagine. Must've been a pretty even match-up, and though she was curious to inquire more about it... he was probably right that they didn't have enough time to explain, and that proved to be so when the Grey Lady signaled the end of class. Maybe she and Zander could just shoot the breeze with the ghost later. What else did the guy have to do? Surely he'd love talking to them and recounting his life stories.

Packing her things away, Soph slung her bag over her shoulder and moved to leave with Zander, not before offering a little wave and a, "Thanks for the lesson," to all the present ghosts.
