He listened to the professor, which only made him wonder what was he talking. Being whole? "That is weird. I think yoga is a bit hard, I mean, I don't know how am I suppose to feel relax while staying in those positions" he tried once thanks to his sister but he wasn't thinking of trying again. Nope.
"I think it's interesting. Especially that Venus plant" he nodded "How can it eat?" asked curiously. So, Myers was a Ravenclaw, he actually thought he was a Gryffindor or Hufflepuff. "I guess you knew right away that you wanted to be an herbologist then, so you can say that was the meaning of your life?" he was getting very deep. "Have you heard that question? 'What's the meaning of life?' What do you think it's the answer? Or maybe there isn't"
Or maybe he should stop talking.
Paul summoned the tin of chocolate biscuits and opened the lid to hold them out to Hugo.
"Take as many as you want." He smiled. He took one himself and bit into it, delighted at how good they were. He couldn't remember where he'd exactly gotten them, either, but he supposed whoever had given them to him had excellent taste.
"
Ahh. I...find it relaxing. But beginning is the hardest part...especially if you're not used to breathing in such a structure, controlled way...or folding into different positions." He could see why it didn't appeal to the masses. He sipped his tea and listened to the boy chatter on and on....
He loved it.
It was nice to have someone to talk to. And not just his fellow staff, either, because some of them seemed busy all the time. And Paul was out here...on the grounds...kind of isolated. He DID have the
very handsome groundskeeper, who was nice and friendly enough, hehe.
"Well you see...the Venus Flytrap has these little hairs on the inside--" he glanced over his shoulder at his bookshelf.
"And when a bug...insect, whatever...touches one of these hairs, it closes on its prey." He smirked a little but. What a wonderful plant it was. He knew it was one of the more...interesting plants people were interested in.
Hehehe.
The question made Paul chuckle.
"I mean..I would say the meaning of life is more....I am not only here to serve as a Herbologist. I have a partner--" he turned the picture of Milton around,
"And I...I don't know. I enjoy teaching more than any of my previous jobs," He said with a shrug.
"And I think there is a different answer for each one of us, Hugo." He sipped his tea as his gaze was back on the young Slytherin.
SPOILER!!: Yoongi

Yoongi was also impressed that the man had read nearly all of these books as he hadn’t thought of him as a reader. Strange how the first impression of someone was usually totally different from how they really were. “Also, why Hogwarts? It’s only my second year here and I’ve already been nearly killed” Though he had to admit that this year went pretty smoothly. Was the previous Headmistress cursed or something? Or did the new Headmaster use runic spells to protect them all?
At the mention of that he could browse through the books his cheeks flushed. “Uh…no thank you, I uh… don’t like reading or plants” he cleared his throat. Had he just said that he didn’t like plants in front of the Herbology Professor? Merlin’s Beard he was not going far in life if he kept his honesty up. “I also refused a book that Professor Dakest wanted to lend me though…so..yeah” he said awkwardly because he didn’t want the man to think he was only refusing his stuff. Nope, not at all, just books in general. Unless they were comic books.
He was glad when the teacup was pushed towards him and he took it in his hands, taking a sip. Nearly burned his tongue and sat it back down on the desk. “Which flavour is this?” he asked, nodding to the teacup.
When the Professor practically fell into his chair, Yoongi had to grab the cup again to take another sip to hide his laugh. When he was sure he wasn’t going to, he lowered it but kept it in his hands. “I actually admire that trait” he smiled. “Maybe because I don’t have it…” he didn’t like to be kept waiting… but when others had to wait for him they simply had to wait longer. It was a bad trait, he knew but what could he do? It’s who he is.
“Well, I don’t know about jogging…there was this long term activity list on the Potions board and one of them was getting the Professor in to doing sports” he shrugged his shoulders. “And it’s better to start in the spring than winter…cause snow and cold and sickness and eww..you know Sir?” he drank his tea know until he finished it and placed it on the desk. “At least , I prefer working out outside but it’s different for everyone I guess”
It was funny how he went from 'ewww sweat!' to 'i haven't taken a walk today' in a matter of a year.
"Well, I was...a very long time ago. I went to University--" and Paul leaned forward, as if telling a very exciting story,
"And I graduated undergrad...and went on to more school...and then decided to teach at that level BUT--" he sighed.
"I just didn't enjoy it very much. Not enough time to experiment or explore--do my OWN studies--" he shrugged.
"And my band! I needed time for my band." So alas, university professor-ing was not his thing.
"And Milton and I moved to Italy shortly thereafter...I had just been doing my own thing when...I realized I was bored and Hogwarts had the position open...and so here I am." He grinned gestured at the picture on his desk...which wasn't facing Yoongi, but yeah.
So, Yoongi didn't like plants, did he? Paul pretended to be displeased. He frowned, leaned back in his chair, and sighed.
"I am so sad now, Mr. Hyland. I thought you loved Herbology....and to think...you had such a knack for it." Paul was no idiot. He knew when students weren't a fan of his class. However, Paul did not want Yoongi to feel TOO bad, so he finally chuckled and sipped his tea.
"I'm kidding. I know." He shrugged.
"It is rooibos tea..." he nodded and sipped it again.
"I think you could have it if you wanted to...for certain people." He smirked. Ahem. AHEM.
Yoongi was very chatty today. He supposed he didn't mind...since he had literally come just to chat. And Paul wasn't doing anything better. He loved talking to people....sigh.
"I suppose you have a point...now would be a great time to start jogging again...since it's slowly getting warmer outside and the weather is nice. At least it's no longer snowing." It hadn't snowed in forever, thank Merlin.
"I learned just how cold it gets in here during the winter..." he chuckled. Good thing he had a fireplace for fire! Warmth! Coziness.
