The young man stood bolt upright, his robes and hair covered in sap and pine needles that itched his skin. He would stand there and stare Myers down (down because the older man was shorter than him) until the Myers explained himself. Damien pulled agitatedly at his robes, eager to be free of the heavy, sticky material. It was all easy and fine and good for the Herbology professor to wiggle his finger at Damien and tell him off for his language, he hadn't had his life flashing before his very eyes.

..................

"it.. doesn't?" Damien asked, eyes widening, the tips of his ears beginning to turn a soft pink, only getting pinker, and pinker as the Professor spoke and moved through the greenhouse. Yes, watching the flesh-eating fir eat that branch in it's messy, but noiseless manner was one of Damien's most humiliating, and sobering moments, his ears? They were positively lobster red now.

"Oh." The young man said simply, unable to say another word. He was embarrassed beyond belief, and he'd nearly cursed at professor Myers. Damien swallowed and shrugged awkwardly at Paul's compliment. "Uh.... Thanks?"

Could he go now?

Paul didn't think any less of Damien. It was just a funny little thing was all. Could have happened to ANY of the students, especially since they hadn't focused on these particular trees recently. He could see Damien turning red, though, and patted his shoulder. "It's okay. I would almost claim this tree has such a misnomer...really."

He smacked one of the needle-leaves away as it had begun to try to curl around his wrist, and he put an arm around Damien, pulling him away from the trees. "Well, since I just saved your life--I think that you could do me a little favor?" he asked, softly but in a teasing tone, since of course, the boy hadn't been in any REAL danger at all.

"What were you doing in here, anyways, m'boy? Homework? Relaxing? For fun?" he didn't think Damien was all that into Herbology though, at least from classes and homework and stuff. Paul still appreciated all the effort. He knew what it was like to participate in a class that you just did NOT feel like dealing with. Ugh. It had always been Ancient Runes for Paul

The greenhouse was smelled so fresh today, didn't it? Paul was taking it all in...
