He hadn't given her ANY sort of clue one way or another to whether or not it was his memory, and... frankly, that stunk.

Clearly, though, he knew just what her angle had been, and knew just how to get out of it, too.

"That is--," she started to grumble, but paused the moment her ears perked up at someone calling her name. Soph. Soph, it's Mum. Answer your mirror, coming from her bag over on the ground where she'd been sitting.

...Uh? Her expression slightly alarmed, slightly embarrassed, and very confused - because WHAT KIND OF TIME WAS THIS, MOTHER? - Soph gave a sheepish, apologetic look to Dakest and bolted over to answer the two-way mirror, sweeping up her bag and hurrying toward the door, a hushed hiss of, "Mum, I'm in class! Can't this wait?!" audible as she entered out into the hallway to take the call, the door closing behind her.

No, it couldn't have waited.

That look. He wasn't going to budge just because she was giving him that look. Especially not when her mirror was going off in class. Why was it in class anyways?

He might have had a word or two to say about it, had Brown not been so active in dealing with it herself. Which apparently included leaving the class. Sabel eyed the door for a long moment. Whatever it was, it had to be important. Brown didn't miss a second of most lectures. It was just Brown.

But there wasn't much he could do. He had to stay with the pensive and the students, and the students were here to learn. And it was possible the last thing Brown needed was someone crowding her. She could have a few minutes. Then someone would be going out if she didn't come back.

SPOILER!!: Zander

”Huh?” He slowly turned his head to the side, hearing Yoongi address him. ”Yeah, fine… I’m fine,” he whispered back, clearly not. But well… Here he was. The Gryffindor turned back to look straight ahead when Professor Dakest went on to address the class as a whole once more. Giving them all the option to look into the pensive…. Which Zander Adair was not going to do. He did notice Sophie Brown make her way over, though. But there wasn’t much he did to acknowledge her presence. Just a slight nod.

As for the pensive, he had already made up his mind. He was never going to look into a pensive ever again. Not if he could help it, anyways. The last time he looked into one… No. He wasn’t going to do that. He already knew what death looked like. And that was the whole point of this right, to educate? So he already knew. Didn’t need another look at something like that. He wondered what Sophie would choose to do, though.

Seeing her make her way over towards the pensive though, he remained still. Her choice. Zander kind of wished she wouldn’t go look at it, knowing how painful those kinds of memories could be. What surprised him was the fact that she wasn’t going to the memory, she was going for the Professor? He watched her curiously, already deciding that he wanted to ask her if they could partner up together. So he stood there, watching from the benches.

…. What?

Why would her mother be calling her in the middle of class? Surely Mrs. Brown knew that an early morning such as this one meant an indecent time for a mirror call. He was both curious and concerned and also still remained in his spot, feet glued to the ground. He’d wait for her to return so they could start on the activity together.

But why in Merlin’s name would her mum be calling in the middle of class?

Speaking of students being here to learn, Sabel didn't miss Zander's lingering concern in Brown's direction or his attention on the door. It was a question as to whether he should send the head boy out after her, but then, it hadn't been a few minutes.

"Adair, why don't you find someone to pair up with." The suggestion was gentle enough, but firm. No, he didn't mean the someone that was currently missing from class. Head boy duties and all. Come Mr. Adair.

SPOILER!!: Paulina

She knew how close the two boys were and wanted to give them some guy time. She DID see the girl from the lake, however. Her name was Angel; hard to forget since it wasn't common.

"Hey, I'll work with you if you want," Paulina said with a small smile as she approached her.

And there was another student opting not to go for the pensive. Fine by him. Likely meant less angry parent letters later. At least she was being proactive and finding a partner.

SPOILER!!: Hady

Ah so Lynch was okay? That nod...Sabel considered it for a moment before nodding back and removing his hand. If she thought she was okay, then she was okay. He would trust her.

SPOILER!!: Brooklyn

That seventh year Hufflepuff had indirectly mentioned it when she’d brought up Harry Potter, after all. Either way, Brooklyn had remained silent. Calculating, observing. Analysing the reactions as people had started filtering up to the pensieve. Of course she hadn’t kept herself away, stepping up to it once the last person had walked away looking shaken. She wasn’t afraid. Not of a memory. Not even as she’d been sucked in and landed on the floor of the trashed building. She just kept reminding herself that it was a memory. It was like a dream, except it wasn’t really happening to her. It was a learning experience, something she could use.

Except it had been difficult keeping herself entirely separate. As she’d comeback, she’d blinked a few times, but otherwise very little reaction had shown on her face. Only people who had known her well, of which there were very few here at the castle, would have known how shaken she really was. She refused to let anyone else see her feeling weak, but she’d still found herself looking around until her blue eyes landed on Hady. Maybe she was close enough, and if anything, she trusted her not to mess up and hurt her. Since they were supposed to work with a partner, anyhow, and she made her way over to her dorm mate. Not saying a word but hoping she understood.

It was hard to read some students, hard to gauge just how well they were doing. Some had good game faces, he would give them that. It'd be a good skill to have.

He was used to seeing them though, finding the tight little lines that spoke much more than the overall expression. That was why his gaze lingered on Andrew for a long moment. Just to make sure that her pretense for being okay didn't only last a few feet.
