Hogwarts RPG Name: Amur Neverwinter Fourth Year | ~ Rise and Rise Again, Until Lambs become Lions ~
On the one hand, Sabel nearly instantly regretted his choices for this lesson as soon as he saw the first faces come out of the pensive. On the other hand, it solidified his decision and the intentions behind it. At least now, they would know. At least, with that knowledge, they would hopefully be better prepared, less startled and more readily able to defend themselves.
He wasn't here to teach them what was easy. He was here to teach them what would keep them alive. SPOILER!!: Zeke Quote:

Knowing that she wouldn’t approve hadn’t led him to change his mind, instead it had cemented his resolve to stay. He knew there were nasty things in the world, and he knew he could have met that fate on more than one occasion. He couldn’t be shielded forever, he had to see it for himself.
He hadn’t offered any insights into his knowledge of the curse, everyone had beaten him to the more obvious statements and he didn’t feel as if elaborating or providing his own perspective would be appropriate.
Mentally he took notes as Sabel spoke. Wand cores could not be predicted so unless one had prior knowledge that was known to be accurate… they oughtn’t depend on that. Intercepting the curse with a spell of your own, possible, but risky yes… and lastly, physical barriers. He would forever remember that.
For a long time, he had thought that dodging was a good strong strategy, but after what had happened in his first duel, he realised that he was lucky. Lucky to have dodged into the path of a spell himself. The vision of Kyroh in the flames still hadn’t left his mind. Only Sabel’s words of running pulled him from his thoughts. Turn tail and run? Would he be able to do that, if it came to it?
…
When they were instructed to move up, Zeke was among the first on his feet, but they slowed as he made his way forward. He’d had plenty of experience with pensieves, so he knew what to expect as far as viewing memories was concerned, but as for the Killing Curse, he hadn’t a clue.
When it was his turn, he leaned forward and let the memory absorb him into the world.
….
Very quickly he realised he wasn’t in the classroom, and though he didn’t know WHERE he was, he knew he wasn’t in a good position. Everything was telling him to fight, or to run, but his feet didn’t move. The floor was littered with bits of debris, plants and pots from what he could tell, but he didn’t want to look down, he needed to look ahead. There a figure had his attention, his undivided attention. This was it? This was where and how it was going to happen? He didn’t know WHY it was happening, but that was irrelevant, he didn’t know much of anything that was being said, but before he knew it, the figure sent a zap of light, closely followed by the green.
…
He’d stopped breathing, and everything in him was telling him to react, only… the memory played that out for him. It wasn’t really him after all, but it felt as if it was. Upturning the table, Zeke braced himself in the hopes that the curse wouldn’t hit, that it would be blocked by the object. The environment, use the environment. All too quickly, he was being sent back, and it was frightening. A part of him knew he hadn’t been hit by the curse, but it was all so startling and all so real, that the impact could not be ignored. And then…… it was over.
Zeke inhaled a deep breath before expelling it slowly, his eyes were wider than usual as he worked to process what he had just seen. Swallowing, he stepped out of the way so that the next could have a turn.
And now they were supposed to practice defending against something like that? …
Did anyone want to partner with him? Because right now he was lost for words.
It was one thing to ask students to look at a memory, another to see how they were after witnessing said memory. The thing was detached from him by now, but to the students it was very real. Very terrifying. And while that was good, it was really not so good.
Reaching out, Sabel put a hand on Zeke's shoulder to steady him as he moved out of the way. No words were needed. SPOILER!!: Yoongi Quote:

Like he knew something that they all didn’t….and he probably did. “Dude, are you okay?” he whispered as to not disturb the class and the others giving and receiving answers. He casted a final concerned look at him before turning his attention to the pensieve.
Should he go and see? It would be a curious thing to witness. Yoongi frowned at himself. Did he just think that? That someone dying could be a curious thing to see? Merlin’s Beard he needed help. But yes, he wanted to see the memory. He was about to open his mouth and ask the Professor who’s memory it was when the man said that it they didn’t need to bother asking. Hmpf, killjoy. SPOILER!!: memory
Standing up from the bench, Yoongi walked over to the pensieve and when it was his turn he took a deep, calming breath before placing his hands on the bowl and stuck his head under water. He had never ever been in a pensieve memory before and he had expected to fall in the memory dripping wet from the water but he wasn’t. The world began to swirl around him and he knew that there was no going back now. He had to life the memory till the end.
He felt himself getting dragged down until he stood in the middle of an asile. The first thing he noticed were the broken pottery and plants around him. Then he looked around him at the blurred edges of the room. Where was this place even? Almost automatically he checked his hands and saw that he was holding his wand.
Realising he was standing in the middle of a crossroads of asiles, he suddenly noticed the shadow of a figure before him. He wanted to narrow his eyes to try and see the shadow better but everything about him or her were completely clouded like the rest of the room. Then he heard the words. Though jumbled like he was listening under water it still made him fearful .
Suddenly, he saw the figure before him move and casting silent spells. The first a zap of light and the second was an eerie emerald green spell. He instinctively knew what spell that was and his heart seemed to stop for a split second before adrenaline pumped through him like he had never felt before. He wasn’t going to die here, he wanted to life.
He moved, trying his best that this was a memory and that nothing could actually harm him but it was still frightening. He had but a heartbeat to make a decision and he flicked his wand to upturn a table full of pots and plants to send it into the path of the killing curse. He shoved it forward, using his wand to blast air at the table, trying to push it into the path of the spell and away from him as far as possible but it doesn’t go far.
The table does make it into the line of the curse and it impacts against it. There was a loud explosion. Though, he thought it would have been a loud explosion because the sound was muffled. The ground shook and whole plants and planks and pots split apart as the curse jets in every direction. He didn’t know it he was hit by an object, or hit by the impact of the explosion but he was being thrown back and his lower back impacted against a shelf behind him. A feeling of intense pain burst through him and he vaguely wondered if he was going to be crippled when the vision in front of him changed and a moment later he was back in his own, safe body in the safe DADA classroom.
The pain was gone but the memory wasn’t. He stepped away from the pensieve, looking positively disturbed. Though his eyes were watery, he wasn’t crying. Actually, his mind was still processing everything that had happened and the more he thought the paler he got. He had to sit down on the ground for a moment because his hands began to shake and he tried to act normal, though that failed so he sat down. Who’s memory had this been? Had this been the Professor’s memory? Was that why it was altered? And had he just lived the Professor’s moments…..or had he been the shadow figure? Maybe none of them and he had gotten the memory from someone else. An Auror or a criminal perhaps? “Prof…” his voice was timid, nothing like him but he just couldn’t bring up to be cheery right now. This was serious. “Professor? Did…did I ..i mean that person , survive or?” He ran a hand through his bright red hair as he obviously still didn’t get what had happened. It had happened too fast. "No wait, you wouldn't have gotten the memory if i had died" he laughed, a thing he did when he got nervous. Curse him for pointing that out in the first meeting. "I mean, that other person..not me" Merlin's Beard he was still shaken up.
Anyways, knowing that Zeke had also been in the pensieve, Yoongi took another few calming breaths before he stood up and walked to his fellow Gryffindor. “Partners?” was the only thing he asked. Maybe someone else wanted to join them, or him if Zeke refused.
Dear Merlin, he hadn't expected the memory to be this jarring. Sabel's hand went from Zeke's shoulder and he stepped forward a bit, to make sure that on Hyland's choice to sit down, he wasn't going to fall over and crack his head.
The boy's words stopped him, and had a small, sympathetic smile forming on his lips. Always with the questions this one. "All three of them lived. There was little injury, and no death." SPOILER!!: Hady Quote:

Depend on her and what she had been taught here today. That on it's own was a hard thing to let sink in.
Even though she had chosen to remain and learn about the unforgivable curse Hady didn't expect to be given the choice to go and see the memory. She didn't expect to actually rise up from her spot on the floor and make her way over to the pensieve waiting her turn. Hazel eyes carefully watched each person before her and the looks on their faces as they returned from the memory. Was she sure she wanted to do this?
It might be strange but she felt she HAD to. This was an experience she would never get again and as tragic as this was the clarity of the situation would always be there. When her turn came she tucked her hair behind her ears and took a breath lowering her face down into the clear cool water of the pensieve...
Colors blended together and the room changed as her feet connected with the floor. This was her first true experience with something like this but she knew she was no long in the classroom. She knew that even though this felt completely real like it was all happening to her...it wasn't. No matter how hard she tried to figure out where she was she couldn't, her eyes and mind were quickly pulled onto the figure speaking to her. Nothing that was said to her made sense but she felt that none of it was good.
Time seemed to stand still for her yet at the same time it appeared to speed up. Her heartbeat became quickened as spells were cast her way making her flip a table over to attempt to protect herself. The green flash of light was so bright as it smashed into the table with such force she could feel herself throw backwards into a shelf. Hady saw and heard the explosion of the spell and pots and plants smash around her. She knew it wasn't really happening to her but in that moment, that brief moment the pain was real. The FEAR was real. There was nothing she could do.
And then everything blurred once more and she was back in the classroom. Letting out a slow breath she pushed a strand of hair off her face with a shaky hand and stepped to the side slowly. She wasn't hurt physically but mentally that was the worst feeling she had ever experienced. Other then her parents death more then a decade earlier. Hady blinked once, twice her face blank of whatever she might be feeling as she lifted her hazel eyes to scan the room around her.
A partner. She still had to complete the days task. If someone wanted to work with her that was fine...sorry but she wouldn't be asking anyone just yet.
Then it was Hady's turn, and given the reaction of two other students thus far, Sabel made sure to be close at hand. He had to admire the young girl's strength though, for while she appeared shaken, she was still on her two feet and looking relatively determined.
Still, he put a hand on her shoulder briefly as well. To support. To encourage. Would it have been better if he had told them who's memory it was? No. It didn't matter. It was a mute point in the lesson. SPOILER!!: Adi and Benny Quote:

With Dakest answering to all their responses now, the Hufflepuff gave his undivided attention to it all. And then the ways to defending oneself from the dreaded Curse. Did he wanted to see what said Curse looked like? Uh... yeah. He stood up to head over to the pensieve.
Here goes nothing.
Adi ducked his head into the substance that was neither mist nor liquid and soon he found himself surrounded with some chaos though he couldn't see that well because the images were kind of blurry. Suddenly, he became aware there was someone standing in front of him. The Puff squinted as he tried to get a picture of the face but of course that was of no use.
Wait... was Mr Blurry talking to him? Cue the frown! Oh no... it was someone BEHIND him. Adi turned but like the first blur, he could see no recognisable features. And that voice O__O It was so cold. He was half glad he couldn't understand the words. And then things were happening so fast... the green light and more chaos. It seemed like a few a loooong time but then Adi found himself back in the classroom, his eyes immediately searching for Benny. He needed some of his positivity and bounciness back here and his boyfriend could help. Sure, he did have a fascination with death but that didn't mean had to like watching that dratted Curse being shot at someone.
"I don't think you would want to see that,'' he told Benny as he went over to him. That was just his opinion because the decision was not up to him. Oh yeah... "Partners.'' He was referring to the activity- one he wasn't really looking forward to because of what he had just seen. Maybe he should have just gone with the younger students... but then again, he would have missed out on this, the answers to his curiosity about the Curse. Quote:

Benny listened intently to what was being said by the professor regardless, taking the information in at simple face valuable that hopefully would never really be needed by him in real life.
As for the penseive memory, Benny was even less sure if he wanted to go and view it and remained seated at first. He watched his boyfriend go up when it was his turn only to come out of the memory looking shaken. "Then I wont," he mused before nodding at the idea of being partners for the rest of the activity. "Sure..."Even though he knew it wasn't a question. The Gryffindor got up to his feet so they could get to it once Adi was ready, the seventh year reaching discretely to take the other boy's hand and give it a squeeze of support.
Rehman seemed to be the first capabale of moving far on his own two feet, so Sabel didn't stop him, but simply let him go. He kept a close eye on the pair. He wasn't sure how he felt about the recommendation for Atreyu to not see the pensive. An honorable attempt to spare a friend from a horrid memory, for sure, but that was hardly the point during the lesson.
Still, it was hardly the point for him to judge the decisions of his students at this point.
What might be required however, after seeing the faces of some of the students when they began casting the spells, was therapy or private discussion of the situation. Perhaps the Headmaster had been right about all of this. Perhaps, he'd become a little indifferent since his days in the MLE.
