The man didn't NEED his apology, but he wanted to give it anyway - at least it would clear his own conscience. "I've not been at the top of my game this year, sir," he continued, still trying to find the words to express what he needed to get off his chest, "and so, I wanted to apologise to you because, well because I haven't been taking your subject seriously, and you deserve better than that." Yep, that was sincere of him, no?

Of course, it hadn't just been this year, it had been last year too, and perhaps even the year before.

"See, I've been thinking of what I might want to do when I leave here, and until recently I really didn't know, but I was wondering if you might know much about curse breaking? Or more specifically, what kind of runes is involved in curse breaking?" He hadn't done much research into it, but he distinctly recalled Ancient Runes being linked with the career choice.
