Instead, he just smiled wide and kept the mirror clutched to him until he put it into the box to take part in their tea party.
With a softer smile, one he usually donned when listening to someone speak, Rooney looked from plate to plate on their table giving each "food item" a reaction. The little sandwiches got a gasp, the tea cakes got an enthusiastic "ooooooh" and the house elf reccomendations received an applause. "Oh, I don't know how I could even choose, Miss Sophie!!" He was just so very excited for all of these delectable delights, yummy yummy air! "I'll just have one of everything, Miss Sophie!" Because he could not POSSIBLY decide! He was adorable, was he aware? Did people tell him every single time they spoke with him like she did? Because they needed to. He deserved to hear that EVERY HOUR OF EVERY DAY. Ugh. So, so precious.
Sophie giggled at each of his responses to her explanations, then nodded brightly at his decision. "Good idea," she agreed, taking his plate and delicately plucking a non-existent food item from each plate on the table and adding it to the boy's own. "A nice sampling of our delectable delights we have here today." La la la, Sophie Brown, totally an expert on tea party jargon.
Setting his plate back in front of him, Soph helped herself to the non-existent goods, miming taking a few things from each plate, and took an imaginary bite of one of the imagined finger sandwiches.
"Mmm," she hummed. "The sandwiches are heavenly." They were SO good at this imaginary tea party thing, see?
