Medea did seem to be entirely focused on Pebbles....

"We could just get a few pairs of those woolly socks," he suggested. "Multi purposeful. I can use them. You can use them. Pebbles can use them like a onesie!"

Or maybe he WASN'T making up the subliminal messaging coming from Medea's actions.
