Default Herbology Homework 1 - Post #4
be curious, not judgmental

With the components of her compost identified and analyzed, Soph replaced and smoothed down one pulled back layer of the compost after another, trying to make sure it all stayed nice and level and even in each layer. Once her crate was roughly back to the way it was when she began, she nicely propped up her index card with the crate so Myers could review her work and hopefully SEE how good of an educated guesser she was. Totally the best, right? Maybe? Eh? Ehhhh?

Text Cut: Card
Name: Sophie Brown
House: Ravenclaw
Year: Seventh

Compost Contents:
  • Abraxan manure (Nitrogen)
  • Grass clippings (Nitrogen)
  • Corn cobs (Carbon)
  • Shredded paper (Carbon)
  • Apple cores (Nitrogen)
  • Twigs (Carbon)
  • Soil

- This compost has a pretty even ratio of carbon to nitrogen materials.

With that all ready to go, Soph wandered up to the front of the room and, quite courageously, stuck her gloved hand right into the bucket of wiggly, very alive worms and carried them back to her work station, accidentally letting one squirm out of her hand along the way - she almost left it there and continued on her way, but she thought better of it and stopped to pick it back up - then deposited them onto the layer of manure, using both gloved hands to spread out the worms smoothly across the surface.

Sophie Brown wasn't afraid of worms. They were kinda cool, really.

Slipping her gloves off onto her tabletop, Soph flicked her wand from its holster and first cast "Scourgify!" on her gloves, one at a time, then pointed the tip inside her crate and cast, "Aguamenti!" The water lightly sprinkled itself over the worms, adding a conservative amount of water to the compost, then stopped the stream and re-holstered her wand. That was probably good enough, right? The compost underneath seemed to have already still had a good amount of water down there, so after what she thought was a job well done on this task, Soph made sure her work station was neat, pocketed her quill and clean dragonhide gloves into her robe pockets, and left.
