But before starting he first greeted the older girl (Tia) who had a crate close to him. "Hi, good afternoon." Beam! Oh. She was a Ravenclaw, was she not? Maybe she would be kind enough to help him identifying nitrogen rich carbon rich items and vice versa? He hoped so.
Owen the card in front of the crate, took out his quill and got to labeling.
Time to get digging! Tia had fully expected everyone to be practically done with interpreting their composts. At least it seemed like most of the crates in the room had been sifted through, so when a first year entered, the sixth year had to beam that she was not the last one! "Hi there! Welcome," she grinned as he took the crate right NEXT to her. He wasn't going to cheat off of her, was he? Eyeing his robes a moment, Tia smiled at sight of the Hufflepuff emblem. Good; he was an honest badger.
She underlined the bit about manure and made a note to ask Myers if there was an easy way to tell what sort of manure one was dealing with. As she continued to dig through and noted she was finding lots of food waste, which she was pretty sure was more nitrogen rich. It was almost like this compost bin came directly from their meal last night. "Hey, so I found some tea leaves in mine, but this confusing, cause coffee grinds are nitrogen rich, but tea bags are carbon rich. But is it the tea bag themselves that are rich in carbon cause of the paper, but whats contained within seems more like it'd be nitrogen rich as it'd seem more similar to coffee grinds?" Tia started a long-winded rant, her quill hovering incisively. "I'm Tia, by the way, you're a first year, yea?"
