Of course she was good at arguing. She was smart. That's what made a good arguer. Mhmm. "No," she squinted, "I'm just saying that you can't say it's not important because it is. You shouldn't trail...trial...trivial..." She took a breath and tried the word again, "trivialise something you don't know anything about." That was just mean.

Ugh. He was still staring. Could he stop-

Chloe laughed. She didn't mean to because he was a boy and being judgey and because laughing felt like losing but it was a funny face. So she laughed. And then tried to cover it up with squinting as quickly as possible. No laughing to see here.

"I-I know!" Chloe huffed. So what if she didn't really know, she knew for certain that he didn't. And she didn't appreciate him calling her out on a bluff. That was rude. Anyhow, maybe he should read a book. Then maybe he wouldn't look at her so dumbly! She wasn't scared, okay? Anxious? A little. But that was an all the time feeling.

Chloe stared at him again trying to keep the stubborn look etched across her features but at the sound of sweets she softened a little. She tried not to glance at the bag again but it happened because curiosity. "Which do you like best? I've never had any of that before." Daddy said processed sugar was bad for the environment.
See, if Phillip knew that she hated the staring, he would ONLY do it more. Just because it was more fun, that way.

A smart voice inside his brain -- probably his mum's -- was telling him that he should at LEAST give the girl some credit since she didn't know how much he HATED shopping. Hated it. The queueing and not being able to find anything and having to wait F O R E V E R for Kat to hurry up trying on clothes. It was a NIGHTMARE. But right now, with the girl using such big words, it was hard to think about his hate for shopping. He shouldn't WHAT NOW? "WHO says I don't know anything about it? HUH?"

He really didn't know anything about it but he wasn't about to tell HER that.

YES! Did that laugh mean that he had WON? He was going to count it as that, just because he can. His face relaxed and a slow smile spread across his face before he too laughed along with her. And even MOREso at the squinting.

See, if anyone walked past, they would think that they were WEIRD.

Phillip raised his eyebrows at her. She knew, apparently. "Then why don't you tell me? Because reading is alriiiiight but if you REALLY want me to remember all of this for the future........" He finished his sentence off with an innocent smile. Go on, lady.

She was asking for his opinion? HIS opinion? The girl who had been staring at him and getting mad for no reason? Girls were WEIRD. "WELL, Droobles' fills the room with bubbles that won't pop for days, which is cool. Licorice Wands are great snacktime treats if you like chewy sweets. And..... Fizzing Whizzbees! MERLIN, they make you LEVITATE!" Talk about E P I C.
