Are YOU saying that clothes are more important than lots of other things out there?" Now it was HER turn to answer to HIM. EHE!
The Slytherin DID notice how the other girl was looking at him. Don't think he couldn't TELL. But if they were going to make this into a game, a competition if you will, then he could make this even more fun, right? So, he pulled a funny face in her direction. Still staring, with the added feature of a funny face.
Read a BOOK? READ A........... MER-LIN. Phillip just sort of stared in her direction, yet again. Why couldn't she TELL him? Reading a book did NOTHING, especially since he had a bad memory to boot. He was more likely to remember what people said to him but reading it in note form?! NO. No way. "If you KNEW, you wouldn't be so scared to TELL ME."
Pause. "And I have some Licorice Wands, Fizzing Whizbees and Drooble's Best Blowing Gum." All good choices in his opinion. Stop it. The staring. It was disconcerting because she didn't know why he was doing that. Was he judging her, was he thinking she looked silly, did she look silly? Her anxiety couldn't handle the not knowing. And it only proved to annoy her. Annoying boy.
Of course she was good at arguing. She was smart. That's what made a good arguer. Mhmm. "No," she squinted, "I'm just saying that you can't say it's not important because it is. You shouldn't trail...trial...trivial..." She took a breath and tried the word again, "trivialise something you don't know anything about." That was just mean.
Ugh. He was still staring. Could he stop-
Chloe laughed. She didn't mean to because he was a boy and being judgey and because laughing felt like losing but it was a funny face. So she laughed. And then tried to cover it up with squinting as quickly as possible. No laughing to see here. "I-I know!" Chloe huffed. So what if she didn't really know, she knew for certain that he didn't. And she didn't appreciate him calling her out on a bluff. That was rude. Anyhow, maybe he should read a book. Then maybe he wouldn't look at her so dumbly! She wasn't scared, okay? Anxious? A little. But that was an all the time feeling.
Chloe stared at him again trying to keep the stubborn look etched across her features but at the sound of sweets she softened a little. She tried not to glance at the bag again but it happened because curiosity. "Which do you like best? I've never had any of that before." Daddy said processed sugar was bad for the environment.
