As it became apparent that Blaise was getting comfortable there on the floor, David realized that he had to do something about it or else he'd be doing the same. And here on the floor was not how Davie was going to spend the night. He was stubborn all right, but even he would not refuse the comforts of a bed right above his own head just to stick it to Blaise Bellaire.
Fortunately, an opportunity opened up when Blaise suddenly spoke to him. Yes, that was enough. Enough silence. Enough of this stupid fight. Davie hadn't known that Blaise was talking to his quill and not him, and so he hinged to face the boy, there on the floor as they were.
"What's your problem, anyway?" He asked the other boy point blank as he pushed his repaired glasses up his nose. "Why do you always have to write everything down? Why did you get so attached to that stupid quill? And why did you have to beat me up about it, huh?" It was just a stupid quill. He would have given it back.... maybe. Maybe if Blaise had been nice and just asked for it, instead of snatching and punching.
