Full from lunch, Paulina decided that she was going to continue the Transfiguration homework by finding an object that she could animate. Problem was that she needed something big enough to pose as a challenge. After a while she remembered that there were statues around Hogwarts; they would be PERFECT.

This was how she found herself wandering along the fifth floor corridor. She remembered seeing a statue of Gregory the Smarmy somewhere around here.... She had no idea why the man had a statue, but that was no real concern to her because he was going to help her with her homework.

Stopping in front of the statue, she gave it the once over. This was going to be difficult and Paulina wasn't even going to attempt non-verbal because there was a very small chance that it would actually succeed. She knew that was pessimistic thinking but she couldn't help it. Maybe she should have tried one of the other spells non-verbally, but she DID still have one more on the list after this. That would work wonderfully.

"PY-air-TOH-tuhm LOH-koh-MOH-tor... PY-air-TOH-tuhm LOH-koh-MOH-tor..." She repeated the incantation until she was sure that she had it perfectly. Even though she had practiced the spell during class it didn't hurt to get a little more practice in. Taking a deep breath she tried her hardest to concentrate on what she wanted the spell to do.

Here goes nothing...

"Piertotum Locomotor! The statue didn't move. "Piertotum Locomotor!" Still nothing. Uggggh. Paulina was trying not to be bothered right now, but she really wanted the statue to move. Another deep breath and she tried again, focusing as hard as she could on what she wanted the spell to do. "PIERTOTUM LOCOMOTOR!"

IT WORKED!!

Happy, Paulina did a fist pump. "Awesome." Now she could ask the statue to do something. "Wave your arms around like you just don't care." The statue did exactly that and she laughed. How cool. Smiling, she ended the spell so that she could go back to her common room and practice the last one on her list.
