Beatrice could.. sense? something not quite right between the Paton siblings and Caleb. Beatrice let out a small sigh and went to pat the poor dear, Franklin, on the shoulder. "Well I'm sorry you have to stay at Hogwarts over the holidays. But... we've got some fun things planned so I do hope you enjoy yourself anyway." She really hoped so. Not being happy over Christmas was like... the WORST. And apparently he was no good at baking? "Oh, well whilst Grace is baking you those cookies, would you like to help me with these shortbread? The dough is all done, I just need to roll them." Plus she wanted to take his mind off the fighting. Try to...
She smiled and nodded as Caleb said he was making a Christmas Tree, and Grace confirmed that Frankie was, apparently, rubbish at baking. Pfft. "They look delicious," she said, looking at her work. Well, they all did. Plus, Beatrice could very much relate to Grace. She loved cookies too.
Noticing another few students walking in, Beatrice smiled and waved. "Merry Christmas Austin, and Sophie," she said happily, starting to roll her shortbread. After a while, she looked back up and saw Sophie with some flour on her face, which brought a smile to Beatrice's face. It wasn't baking unless flour got everywhere! "What are you baking over there Sophie?" she asked.
But Sophie wasn't the only one with a flour problem. Glancing up she saw Olympia with a nice smudge on her face too. It was all so much fun! Paulina had offered to help bake some Shortbread, "Well I'm just rolling the dough out now, ready to bake. Then I'll be all finished! Did you want to get started on those Gingerbread Men and I'll come over once I'm done?" Because she LOVED Gingerbread Men too.
Beatrice just had to stop what she was doing and walk over to Hady's bench space to look at her assortment of things. Did she say peppermint cookies and rice crispy treats? "Oh Hady that sounds delicious! Let me just finish this and I can give you a hand." She went back over to keep rolling her dough. "Do you cook those at home too?"
AND THERE WAS AN OWL IN THE KITCHEN? Beatrice looked up as she saw the owl fly through the window and land on someone's bench space. She'd never fancied owls very much, actually, and she was prepared to use her body as a shield for her baking in case the owl came any closer....
Beatrice nodded at Ava's decision to help decorate the cookies. "Good idea," she said. One didn't have to be good at baking to be good at decorating, and she watched Ava decorate a cookie and hand it to Airey, who seemed to enjoy it. She offered the lass a thumbs up for a great job at decorating those cookies.
Beatrice couldn't help but laugh at Airey's question. "You know what? I have no idea. None at all. Perhaps something to do with the shortening... the butter?" Or whoever had first baked them was short? |
