Zeke copied down the notes from the board, but when it was rearranged into nitrogen and carbon rich he just placed a C or an N next to the appropriate item on the list. Rewriting things was not on his list of things to do for today.
Making compost seemed odd though, like, couldn't they just mix it ALL together? Yeah? Like... a SUPER compost? Unfortunately, probably not. He supposed though, he could pick 'ingredients' that complimented each other? Like, flavours? Could plants TASTE them? Was that a thing? "Professor, I'm sure mundane plants couldn't, but can some plants actually taste this stuff?" The compost. Could they?
After grabbing his wooden thing, heh, he filled the bottom bit with soil and returned it to his station.
Paul was patting his dirt, PLAYING with his dirt, imagining little worm families building little worm homes in it...how fun. He wondered if he should write a children's book about worm families....
He could make a lot of money for that, if it was popular enough. Pfffft.
OH! He had a hand--well a hand in the air--ZEKE BROWNE! Paul nodded at him and stood up to stride towards him...glancing around a bit...making sure all was well with the other students. Was everyone ENJOYING this? No? NO?
Paul thought for a moment...
"Well...plants actually have these litttttttle tiny molecules...located in their cells...that can taste and tell if a certain substance contains nitrate," He informed him.
"But the magical plants---some of them literally CAN taste--which I find so cool, you know?" Another cool plant fact...
"Some plants can even taste what kind of caterpillar is chewing on them...from the spit."
PLANTS MAN!
