Lil' gooz | Sarangel | Junior Dweeb ....................did ya hear that?
DID YA HEAR THAT?
SHE HEARD THAT. Professor Myers called her SMART. SMAAAART. S M A R T. She wanted to fall over and roll around or skip to the front and back to give him a high five or give Sophie Brown a gigantic hug or write Marcel or SOMETHING, but instead she just stood there, trying not to smile too much. Her efforts were useless. Norah's cheeks might as well have been magnetically attracted to the moon considering their absolute refusal to go down again. She opened her mouth to say thank you for the points or for the compliment or just because he'd made her feel wonderful, but she closed it again quickly for fear that something dumb would come out and she'd undo all the good stuff she'd said. Man. Would this happen if she read a lot for all the other classes too? At this rate it might even be worth it. Three entire points AND a nice thing. This had to be a world record.
She busied herself with her parchment because the smile just wouldn't go away and she was starting to worry the other students would see and think she was being mean about it. The smile wasn't HER fault, right? It was like an auto response when miracles happened, 'cause who knew if this would ever happen again. Maybe she was even not doomed! Or a little bit not-doomed. It was better than nothing, anyways. Norah looked up suddenly when Yoongi spoke, her cheeks not only turning pink, but also feeling as fi they were about to fall off from all the smiling. "Okay maybe I'm good at one thing. But maybe it's just 'cause I practiced in the mirror like you said." She grinned at the head poke, which was somehow a million times less infuriating than it usually was, before adding, "And thanks for the flower. It's lovely." Ahem. She watched him return to his place before tucking the flower behind her ear, not pausing to adjust it when it immediately got tangled in her curls on account of somebody ELSE was there with a flower.
That's right. Sophie Brown, Queen of the Universe, had a flower for her. HER. Was there something funny in the air today (and no, the smell didn't count) or were all the good things just spontaneously occurring one after another? "Thanks Sophie. But the brilliant's all you, I promise. It must be contagious." Norah hesitated for a split second before throwing her arms around the head girl for a ginormous squish. She had to know how important this felt, right? She seemed like somebody who'd be able to tell. She just did. With another grin, she half-tucked the flower behind her other ear, then bent over her parchment to record all the notes Professor Myers had put on the board.
The Hufflepuff waited until some of the giddiness had ebbed before walking over to retrieve a wooden thing. The only thing that could make this class better was playing with dirt. Professor Myers knew what was up for SURE.
