"I'm sorry, WHAT?" he asked. He was slowly starting to see why his dad didn't get along with HIS dad when he had been at school. Nutters, all of them. Well, the males were. Not the females, obviously. Grace wasn't even REALLY a Paton by blood, he had to remember that. Huh. This was really going to tick his dad off when he told him, wasn't it? Oh man, he had to of course pick his father's rival's step-daughter to have a crush on...
Wait, his brain was going on a tangent. He could worry about that later. BACK TO WHAT THE KID WAS SAYING. Was he about to say mistletoe?
Oh geez. This was embarrassing. Probably even MORE embarrassing for poor Grace. He bit his lip and glanced at her, trying to telepathically ask her if she had any idea how to get rid of her annoying brother so they could talk about this whole MISTLETOE business because he was NOT about to do it with him around... And anyway, she really didn't want to add Caleb to to the snog list. She was long past that list, and anyway Caleb meant a lot more than a simple snog.
She bit her lip, glancing up at Caleb. She hoped that Frankie would shut up because she did not need Caleb knowing about that list. Even though there wasn't really that many people on the list. Not ones that she had actually snogged anyway. But there was only one guy that she wanted to now. And Frankie was getting in the way.
"Hey!" Grace murmured, shaking her head as she looked at her brother. "I did get you something!" Of course she got him something. She wasn't a mean brother. "But I am baking for him...." She mused, smiling up at the Professor. "Frankie sucks at baking" And she wouldn't want him to get sick. Or would she? The brunette smiled, looking at the little christmas tree she was decorating. "I love cookies."
And now back to Caleb. She smiled up at him. "Wanna go get something to eat once we've done our cookies?" Oh no! The gingerbread man was no more. Frankie eyed the handiwork of his sister and Caleb, wondering why they were being so slow at this cookie baking thing. Christmas wasn't going to last forever, you know. Being the impatient Gryffindor that he was, Frankie scooped up a finger of frosting and stuck it in his mouth. Mmm. So sweet and delicious.
A mischievous grin appeared on the blond's face at Caleb's reaction to the revelation of Grace's not-so-secret song list. How could he not know about that? Everyone did. Or, at least, he and the friends he told knew about it because it was his duty to tell that kind of stuff to people and embarrass the living daylights out of his sister when word got around. It was surprising that the beans hadn't been spilt to Mum and Dad after all this time. At least not yet.
Instead of repeating what he said to Caleb, Frankie simply continued to scoop up frosting with his finger. He trusted that the older boy heard him correctly the first time since he didn't stutter and all he had in his mouth at the time was the arm of a gingerbread man. But he did give the Slytherin a you-heard-me look and mouthed 'my Dad will jinx you if you two snog' before turning to his sister.
"I don't suck," he corrected, rolling his eyes. "I'm just not patient enough for baking." As made clear by the frosting sneaking, which he had stopped doing to avoid getting a stomach ache until he devoured all those cookies that were being made for him. Heh. "And what was that about you getting me a present, Grace?" Did that mean he had to get one for her now? Crap.
