When the last student took their seat Helena rose from her sitting position on the desk to a floating position a few inches over the floor in front of it as she addressed the class in voice that was loud enough to be heard in the back but not too loud. "Welcome back everyone to a new lesson in history. I firstly want to extend my thanks to all of you for dressing up as your favourite magical person from history for the class. I know that not everyone is fond of dressing up and some even find it silly, and because of that I'm awarding 10 house points to each of the four houses." They had all made an effort and Helena endorsed that. "Now, let's talk about history for a moment before we move on to our main topic for today's lesson. Why do you think its obligatory to study history during your magical education?" Letting her grey eyes wander over the many costumes Helena asked "Does the famous people you have dressed up today as make it easier to remember what has happened throughout history or do you think/feel that so much has happened in history that it's hard to remember regardless of the famous people?" Rooney laughed at the Grey Lady and nodded, modelling his beard a little more with a few turns of his head. "Does it suit me, Professor?" He was unsure about it, and was certain that he may have an allergic reaction to the face make up that he had used. Or his skin just wasn't used to having such stuff on his face once more. "Oh yeah!" Rooney hadn't actually thought of dressing up more to represent exactly how Leonard Spencer-Moon had risen to the top of the Ministry.
But now he did and he darted straight out of the classroom again to get a tea cup and a tray. And so he didn't have to balance the tray effectively, he used his wand to temporarily stick the cup to his tray and head back into the classroom to take a seat as Professor Helena started the class. "People are more familiar with iconic individuals as they find it easier to differentiate between events if they can liken it to a face or personality attribute. It also gives a connection between the history and the present if someone aspires to be like someone." Like he was with Leonard Spencer-Moon. Quote:

Some of you said that you remember facts and years better if you dress up, have a personal connection to an event or person or something visual to connect it to like a canvas painting of a battle, an invention we still use today or a piece of memorabilia you know was owned previously by a witch or wizard that had a huge impact on wizarding society." Here she let her grey eyes drift over some students like Dot, Franklin, Colt, Marsha and Caleb. "What most of you have said though is that we study history to know our roots, where we came from and what events and people across history have shaped the wizarding world into what it is today. And I think the most important thing many of you touched on in your answers is that we can use history to look back at what we did wrong, the mistakes we made and do better in the future." Helena let eyes gaze out over the class again, letting her eyes drift over all the students present. "With mistakes and the wish do better in mind we can move over to our main topic of this lesson which is giants. Hogwarts has never employed a giant on staff that I know of but a beloved half-giant by the name of Rubeus Hagrid served as groundskeeper and CoMC professor for a number of years." And he in Helena's opinion embodied the whole knowing your mistakes and trying to do better.
Floating backwards to sit on the edge of the desk again she said. "Giants are a very dangerous race of humanoids that we co-exist with here it in the wizarding world that I think you all should learn more about and more precisely their history and how they as a race have impacted our history. Can you all please give me one fact each that you know about giants." "Professor," his hand went up and he gave it a little wave. "Giants have their own language, but they can learn other languages. They aren't as stupid as the saying 'big oaf' would suggest." The Ravenclaw actually took a look around the room to see if any of the students there could be considered an oaf. Maybe the Head Boy - had Rooney even seen him or was he just projecting his stupid ideas of oafs onto his love rival?s
