Even if she DID manage to kick as high as her head. "I've always admired them so much, and I'm almost tall enough to be one now."
She did listen carefully to Rusty's plans, especially because there were still so many bits and pieces that she didn't understand. Like what was Heart of Nature? And could you plan to be a Seer, or did it just sort of... happen? "I think all anyone wants is to be happy, don't you? It's a good goal to have. Lots of stuff changes about what you want, but you never stop wanting to be happy."
They were actually down to their very last question, but it was the hard question. The secret telling. Dot chewed on her lip and settled back on the railing. "You have to promise not to tell my secrets, okay? Those are the rules... what is said on the bridge stays on the bridge." It was the only way they'd be able to get through this part. Mutual trust or whatever. "I'm... adopted, which is not a secret, but I've been thinking about finding out where I came from. And that would really hurt my parents feelings. So that's all, and now it's your turn." Move along move along move along.
OH! Okay... that... made sense? Maybe? Rowan wasn't sure how one group of dancers from one city could be like super famous, but then... she'd grown up on an enclosed community so she hadn't really been exposed to that sort of thing. But when Dot kicked up so high... she couldn't help but applaud.
"Wow! Do you ever do yoga? I bet you'd be so good at it!" If she could stretch like that, anyway.
"Well I don't know, I hope so. Though I think sometimes people get all distracted with the little things they want that they forget to try and be happy too." It was something she'd heard her grammy say once, but she suspected it was true: most things Grammy said were true.
Promise? Yes!
"I'm very good at keeping promises!" Rusty said, nodding.
"So I promise not to tell your secrets." So she quietened and waited for the secret to be revealed.
"You're adopted? That's wonderful! That means your mum and dad wanted you so much they CHOSE you." That's a lot of love right there.
"But... I think I get that. I mean, I don't know who my dad is and I'm not really bothered to be honest but sometimes my little sister asks about hers and I think sometimes it's just helpful to know..." Even though the people you had were awesome.
"I don't have many secrets. I'm really bad at keeping them. It isn't easy to keep secrets when you live with so many people and when you share a bedroom with two sisters, cause there's always someone around and you don't have TIME to get secrets." Also, Rusty talked so much that any secrets she might have would probably just slip out with all the other words.
"Although... there was this one." Which wasn't so much a secret as... a knowledge that if the grown ups found out she'd probably be in trouble.
"Last summer someone let the pigs out of the farm down the road from our house and the farmer got really angry and had to chase them and catch them and stuff... and it was me." And nobody could EVER KNOW. Cause since she let the sheep out that one time she'd been warned to leave the farm animals alone because that wasn't the kind of activism that they were into... but the pigs had looked so sad and crowded all cooped up in that pen.
Rusty's face lit up as that last question disappeared from the flashcard.
"We did it!" she said, beaming at Dot.
"But we've been out here for ages! We should rush back or we'll be late!" She scrambled to her feet, waited for Dot to be ready, then took off back towards the castle.
