Would it be cheesy of her to want to just look at his face. Caleb had a really pretty face, and Grace really did want to just look at it all day long. But she figured that wasn't the best way to get a guy to like her. So maybe not any face staring just yet. She just smiled at him, and then looked down at the cookies. She didn't know when she had started to feel like this about Caleb, when he had gone from a child hood friend to something more, but she kind of liked it. She wasn't sure if he felt the same though. So face staring was very much off of the cards.

She really needed to find out if he felt the same. Because she didn't want to waste time on someone who didn't feel the same. Maybe she could ask now. She'd think about it. She was about to say something else when she heard the annoying droning of her brother. Ugh. Franklin didn't have the best timing.

"Not my fault Mom and Dad made you stay..." The sixth girl murmured, shaking her head. She hadn't thought that they'd make him stay just because she was. It wasn't like he was 10 any more. "This is my first time staying too..." She mused, glancing up at Caleb, and smiling a little. She may or may not have had a little bit of hearts eye. "We usually go home... but I fancied a change this year." One that her brother clearly didn't like. Oh well. Tough luck.
"I just wish I could get someone to owl Baldwin here for me," Caleb said with a chuckle. He was sort of joking - but mostly serious. He missed his crup! Looking down at the cookie he had started to decorate before Frankie came over and RUINED everything, he changed his design idea and instead decided to just do a basic Christmas tree. Taking green frosting, he squeezed a big glop of it over the "Wi - " he'd started to write out for Grace and quickly smeared it into the green. There. All fixed.

And now there was a professor. To make it even MORE awkward. He smiled at her politely though. "I'm doing a Christmas tree," he told her before looking back down at it and continuing to smooth out the green frosting he had globbed on there. It was going to be one heck of a sugar rush when he finally ate his cookie, but he was NOT complaining at all.

On the contrary, it was his duty as a brother (even if he was a half-brother) to ruin Grace's plans of canoodling with Caleb Newell. And Merlin knew that he was just getting started. Frankie had a big present of payback just waiting to be unwrapped due to a ruined Christmas all thanks to Grace.

"It is so your fault that I'm stuck here," he snapped back at his sister with a deadly glare. "I wouldn't be here had you decided to go home rather than stay here so you can add another victim to your snog list." Oh, did he just say that? Frankie glanced over at Caleb. Surely the Slytherin Prefect knew that was her entire reason for staying behind, right? If he didn't, he wasn't very bright. But if he did know and was playing along ... then his father would be hearing about it.

Frankie tried not to snort when Caleb asked if Grace and him were enjoying their time at the castle. Did it look like he was enjoying himself? "I'd rather be at home with my other sister than stuck here with the one I don't like." He bet Grace didn't even get him a present to make up for them having to spend Christmas at Hogwarts. "Not that it matters, I guess. She'll probably be too busy trying to get you under the mistl-"

And cue the Transfiguration professor. "I'm no good at baking, Professor York. Which is why my sister here is baking my favourite Christmas cookies for me. Turns out she didn't get anything for me this year, you see." If you didn't count him not being able to go home because she decided to stay behind, that is. The fourth year let out a little pout. See how awful of a sister Grace Paton was?
THIS was why Caleb did not get along with the youngest Paton. Because he was obviously mental. He wrinkled his eyebrows and stopped decorating his cookie to stare at the kid. He had a secret SNOGGING list? Well this was news to him. Where did he go to get involved in it?!

"I'm sorry, WHAT?" he asked. He was slowly starting to see why his dad didn't get along with HIS dad when he had been at school. Nutters, all of them. Well, the males were. Not the females, obviously. Grace wasn't even REALLY a Paton by blood, he had to remember that. Huh. This was really going to tick his dad off when he told him, wasn't it? Oh man, he had to of course pick his father's rival's step-daughter to have a crush on...

Wait, his brain was going on a tangent. He could worry about that later. BACK TO WHAT THE KID WAS SAYING. Was he about to say mistletoe?

Oh geez. This was embarrassing. Probably even MORE embarrassing for poor Grace. He bit his lip and glanced at her, trying to telepathically ask her if she had any idea how to get rid of her annoying brother so they could talk about this whole MISTLETOE business because he was NOT about to do it with him around...
